Mel's party was pretty fun last night. Whee! We went to a vegetarian/vegan asian restaurant called Grasshopper and then hit Sunset for some booze. I had a sake margarita and a Beery Mary (a Bloody Mary with beer instead of vodka), and that pretty much made me feel happy for the rest of the night.

Given that it's Steer Roast weekend...I think I'll be pretty happy too. XD Except for the fact that like all the usual weekends, I am HOSED. Really really hosed. And it's only two weeks until ACen. :x

The good news there is that it's TWO WEEKS until I get to see Roni again. <3 <3 <3 The bad news is I only have two weeks + no reading period to study for finals and get everything done that I need to get done.

I actually got my sister a birthday present at the MIT Glass Lab sale. $18 for some pretty cuppy thing, but considering everything that my sister's done for me in the past couple of years, I think I can splurge on her. Even if shipping to Switzerland is ludicrously expensive. ^^;;

Happy 31st Birthday to my sister who lives in Switzerland. (That was my ticket to Chicago right there! Baby! ^_^)

Still trying to slog my way through all of Farscape, which will undoubtedly be arrested by the oncoming of finals, a resurgence of my wuxia obsession after Shen Diao Xia Lu and Yi Tian Tu Long Ji get here (and let's not mention all the screenshots I'm going to try to take of Xiao Ao Jiang Hu), and a plain lack of time. =_=;;

Anyways, I have something to look forward to this weekend, which will be... *dun dun dun* the annual Senior Haus STEER ROAST! The only wild MIT party there ever was. Rumor has it that one year MIT got placed on some magazine's Biggest Party Schools list because the interviewer came during Steer Roast, and someone said, "Yeah, we have parties like this every week."

Anyways, for those of you who want to come, you should stop by Steer Roast this weekend! Skuld will be there, as usual, despite the end-of-term hosage. Freezepop is going to be there, in addition to the usual flaming roll of toilet paper to Wagner's Flight of the Valkyries, the mud wrestling, the pr0n-to-cartoons room, the drugs, BondageCom...and hey! Today has been a really good day.
Friday was great too.

I spent the afternoon and evening over at Chris's place, playing DDR, watching anime, getting drunk, and then freestyling some DDR. XD It was a total blast and a half. :3 And I managed to AA Pink Dinosaur. >_> 12 Greats, so close to an SDG! ;_;

Chris showed me Laputa, which was pretty good. I still don't like it as much as I absolutely love Kiki, but...hey... ^^;;

And about today, I went to Home Depot with Nigel to get wood for Sol's Fuuenken, and while we stood around, filched tape measure and drew on our wooden boards, we managed to get all the engineering of the sword down. It shouldn't actually be too hard as long as Nigel can sneak into the 2.007 lab to use a drill press and into Fred's lab for a mill. Then it's just screwing shit in and we'll be all good. ^_^ Huzzah!

Thanks to Asphodel and 1337 Ebay gung fu, she has found exactly what I've been spending the last few years in the United States looking for.

I've been looking for this shit for ages. I once had a dream where I found the VCDs of Bai Niang Zi, and when I woke up I was the saddest person on earth.

Now that they've been found I'm the happiest person on earth. ^_^ *happy happy joy joy*

I've also convinced Ed to buy "Xiao Ao Jiang Hu" since it's a standalone series and he doesn't have to worry about getting into a huge trilogy. ^^;;

Since I'm on such an wuxia kick, I think I've decided to break my crossplay streak. Yeah, believe it or not, >_> Skuld is going to break her crossplay streak. *gasp* I only do it for hot wuxia chicks. Why? XD

Because Ren Ying Ying kicks buttloads of ass.

(Yeah, that's the costume I want to do. She has many, many changes of clothing, but I like her blue ones and her orange ones the best. We'll see which wins out in terms of laziness.

I know I've said before that I want this and this but I'll say it again.

I have no idea who currently has my Shen Diao Xia Lu VCDs, but I'd like them back. ;_; I need my Yang Guo/Xiao Long Nu fix really badly. @_@

Of course, I could wait until I go to Beijing to buy them, but you know, there's the conflict of immediate gratification over patience. And I know I don't have my priorities straight.

While I'm in China I'm going to have to remind myself to get Xiao Ao Jiang Hu, the old 80's version of Tian Long Ba Bu, and of course She Diao Ying Xiong Zhuan and Yi Tian Tu Long Ji. And pick up whatever old Chu Liu Xiang I can find.

I'm old school, what can I say? I especially miss the later Chu Liu Xiang Chuan Ci, like Ying Zi, Lan Hua, and Ying Wu Chuan Ci. :/ They don't have those on VCD and that makes me very sad. ._. They were better than the original TV series, I think. :3 Especially the theme music, which I still to this day cannot find on mp3 anywhere at all. -_-;; *despair*

I have this gut feeling that before I head off to grad school, I'm going to go home and make sure all the old wu-xia tapes my family recorded in crapass SLP mode make to my apartment. :3 Damn, now I want to go home this summer because everytime I go home I go on a week-long wuxia binge. If only we had the first volume of Tian Long Ba Bu! I'd so be there watching it! ;_;

I am such an wu xia whore. XD They are my fondest memories of when I was a child. :3 Oh, the nostalgia. I am so buying a sword in China and shipping it back to the United States. Nobody's stopping me. XD Mom didn't let me buy one last time because I was 12 years old, now I'm 21 and I'm buying myself a sword, dammit! >) And I'm going to name it something cool like...

It's Friday! Huzzah! I remember having an interesting dream, but I can't remember why it was interesting, so I'm mildly annoyed. I think I've been mildly annoyed all morning, and the pouring rain certainly hasn't helped that much.

I have no idea why I'm in such a shitty mood. I might have a slight fever, but since I forgot to take my temperature last night, who knows?

Gonna tag Nigel today and see if he's got time to start on the Fuuenken, because we really need to get stuff like that done, since I'm mostly free this weekend and ACen is just around the corner.

*sigh*

I miss Roni. My bed is all cold and lonely and boring with no one else in it. As much as I like to snuggle my Zoro and Luffy plushies, they don't snuggle back and there's definitely something missing there. ;_;

I also wish the Go!!! by Flow single would be released sooner than April 28th (incidentally, my sister's birthday). I love that song and I needs it now, precious. Probably because I want to practice it for ACen karaoke. :3 You know I can't resist a song that starts off with "We are fighting dreamers!" If only the Naruto anime didn't totally suck ass, I would be more into watching it. I'm waiting for chapter 213 of the manga as it is. *itch itch itch* ^_^

Oh yeah, if anyone has a karaoke version and the lyrics to Alive by Raiko, let me know. :3 That would be another cool song to sing...if I ever learn how to rap in a foreign language. (Experiments thus far into A to Z by ZZ have shown that rapping in Japanese might well be beyond my grasp...)

I had wu-xia dreams last night, which unfortunately only partially make up for the fact that whatever wu-xia homage was in Kill Bill Vol. 2 was horribly inadequate.

Since I'm on the computers at school, you'll have to deal with my lack of Chinese (simplified or otherwise) input and learn to satisfy yourself with pinyin. >)

I apologize in advance for the fact that this is in Simplified. I can't remember Taiwanese pinyin for the life of me so...I am going to have to unfortunately have to live with Simplified, as much as I hate it too.

Kill Bill Vol. 2 was disappointing in terms of fight scenes. There was hardly anything lengthy and interesting, even the final fight with Bill was short. >( There was a nice wu-xia homage from Pai Mei, but not nearly enough. Now I need my daily dose of wu-xia. *digs out the old school*

It's Tuesday and I have no class again, but tons and tons of work, as a 5-page Japanese essay is due tomorrow. *falls over* Okay, so I'm writing it on anime conventions, but still...>( Should've taken the class P/D/F. *sighs* Now it's too late. *grumble grumble*

MIT DDR III was a disaster. Fucking disaster because Rob's too chickenshit to play ZZZ/Louis.

Here's what happens: Final round is Louis vs. Rob, the three songs being e-motion, Graduation and A Oni. Rob misses a step on A Oni, which causes them to tie. He claims that it was the pad sticking, and so after much jumping up and down on all the arrows, they get the 1P right arrow to stick, and Rob wants to win by default.

That naturally, is completely and totally unfair and the best way to settle the score would be to do a rematch. Rob protests against a rematch, saying it wouldn't be fair against him, and Fred, who is running the tournament is too spineless to say anything.

After watching two episodes of One Piece, I get pissed and just plain leave. >( *big frown* Fred has no balls and Rob is a whiny bitch. But we already knew the latter.

Either way, there should have been a rematch, but I think Fred declared them tied for first place.

...whatever. Good DDR players are assholes.

Unless of course, they're from Team RiVAL. ^_~ JoeP. placed third.

Off to see Kill Bill Vol. 2 with Ko today. I need something to take my mind off being pissy. I think this calls for more Farscape...or something.

I'm writing to let you know that I do not appreciate your little joke in giving me the best/worst great attack of my life during the qualifiers for the MIT DDR tournament.
156 greats on Happy Wedding, despite the suckiness of the song, is just unacceptable. I haven't gotten that many greats on a 7-foot EVER. Let me repeat: THAT IS THE WORST SCORE OF MY ENTIRE LIFE.

Skuld went to Battle of Bands at MIT, and now is subsequently deaf. Nevertheless, there were a lot of good bands around, at least 3 from MIT (possibly more) and a lot of really good others from the Berklee College of Music and other local colleges.

I woke up bright and early this morning, but somehow I always manage to oversleep when I wake up before 10am, comment to myself that it's too bright outside for me to be up, and promptly fall asleep again.

I also slept with my neck in a funny position, so it hurts like hell. Poo. >_<

Lots of homework this weekend, especially with that 5-page Japanese essay on Anime Conventions, but at least I'll have a semi-good time writing it, because anything anime related is fun, right? Wrong.

I actually have a lot of activities planned for this weekend, since Saturday night is the West High/MIT reunion (with me, Aadel, Harris, Genevieve, Evgenia, and Scot) at Red Bones, the DDR competition on Sunday, and going out to see Kill Bill Vol. 2 with Ko on Monday. I am totally hosed this weekend. How do I manage to do that?

It's been a week since Anime Boston, and it doesn't even feel like it. Feels like just yesterday that I was hanging out with Roni and Ryuichi and all the rest of my friends. Man...I miss going to anime cons, because they just plain rule.

Haku tells me he might not be able to make it to ACen, and that makes me sad. ;_; Hakuuuu~~ you can't abandon me! *sobs*

;_; So it's a long weekend, and my bed is cold and lonely and lacking another warm occupant, so I shall go back to bitching and moaning through my Legato bunny, who at current seems to be defeating my Sol bunny. I'm sure the Sol bunny will make a comeback...eventually. Somehow, in some way or other. :3 At the least the Sol bunny has the benefit of knowing that my Legato costume still has miles to go (... ^________^) before it's as good as my Sol costume.

And hey, Sol's more badass and nerdy. And if there's two things you just can't beat, it's badass and nerdy, my friend.

If I disappear off the face of the planet these next couple of days, it's because I'm totally hosed, and will be hosed by various types of work until this year ends. After finals, I will have a brief period of about a week where I have to pack up my room, pack up my computer, and store everything below ground in a grandiose effort to rid myself of cruft for my senior year, after which I will most likely be moving away to graduate school.

Oh, and enjoy the new Legato layout. Yes, I am actually very fond of the color blue. It's easier to make blue layouts than red layouts, because it doesn't hurt your eyes as much.

Oh yeah, I met Chao from Team RiVAL and Joe P. won the tournament, beating Billy Brown at some nasty edit of V. And I mean NASTY edit of V.

I am so losing steam right now. *falls over* All I want to do is make the workload stop. I still have a lot left of my Japanese homework (nasty writing, precious), some reading to get caught up with in 9.09, the last 1% of my Sol costume to finish...and ten million other things on my mind.

It will never end. The hosage will never end...

so therefore, in a gigantic effort of Herculean puntage, I have written about 200 words for the next chapter of my Legato fic. Because as you know, Legato Bluesummers has decided to return (he's been around ever since Spring Break) and declared that he will not be punted from my glorious presence by Sol Badguy, and that there is now a civil war of muses going on in my head.

So in order to make the most of being caught in the crossfire of two great inspirations, I am taking bets. Who will win? ^_^

Skuld's Week of Hell: Day Six

Woke up this morning afternoon at 12:30pm. Aaah, sleep is so wonderful. Now I'm all awake and ready to tackle most of the work that I have to do tonight.
I'm 99% finished with my Sol costume (sooo close! ;_;) and looking to complete it tonight. I'll take pictures if I have time to put the entire thing on. 8D ...but don't get your hopes up, because I'm totally hosed up the wazoo. -_-;;

Been reading my 9.09 textbook, thankfully the latter half of the class is mostly stuff I've already learned twice in 9.01 (Neuroscience and Behavior) and 9.14 (Structure and Development of the Mammalian Brain), so I don't think I should be panicking that much...

Okay, scratch that. I'm still panicking.

So my panel for Anime Boston is on Friday night at 10:30-midnight, right after the karaoke competition. That's great...because, well...I get to enter the karaoke competition. Still trying to decide whether I want to do "Sayonara Solitaire" or "Under the Blue Sky" but more likely the latter. ^^;; Unless I can get the lyrics to "Arigatou, I Love You, Yet" by Bon-Bon Blanco, Chrno Crusade and MahouTsukai are my two options. ^^;;

Oh, and Nobuteru Yuuki is a guest at Anime Boston this year. @_@ Holy crap. I love his designs for the Escaflowne movie and Chrono Cross. Hmm...I wonder if he'd sign my copy of Chrono Cross for an Escaflowne movie poster. @_____@ Nah, I'm probably too lazy. -_-;;

Skuld's Week of Hell: Day 5

I just got my midterm exam back from 9.09. I don't know how I could've missed so many points, I swear I mostly knew what I was talking about. *falls over* The thing was very experiment heavy, and if there's one thing I suck at remembering it's who did what. =_=;;

Either way, I did really shitty. Really shitty, and there goes 40% of my grade. Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck. There is no fucking way I'm getting an A now, even if I totally ace the final. At least most of the stuff we're studying for the final is stuff that I've learned before in 9.01 and 9.14. Even so, I'm going to ACen before the final and I really hope that con-recovery doesn't make me forget stuff. Now I'm really panicking. ;_; Fuck fuck fuck fuck. And I really like this class too. The test questions were just...*sigh* not suited to what I was taking out of the class I guess. ._. I am so staring my C in the face, and I just can't deal with a C in my token course 9 class right now. *flops over*

I guess I've just got to buckle down and study real hard. I managed to pull out with an A in 7.012 fall term sophomore year when I thought was getting a B or C for sure...so I guess I can do it again. I just have to stop being so fucking depressing and thinking that I'm such a fucking good-for-nothing...which may or may not mostly be true. And today was starting off so well too.

Why am I so fucking worthless?

I have to stay on campus until midnight tonight.

So I missed the entry for my day yesterday, so here it is anyway:

Skuld's Week of Hell: Day Three

Ran some errands around the pharmacy and the post office, neglected to go buy some Southern Comfort and glowsticks for Anime Boston, but did dye my hair. Now my hair is black. No question about it. XD Instead of being a rather dark shade of brown it's BLACK and actually matches my hair extension. Thank fucking god.

Went to the Anime Club's cosplay workshop, where I sat around with my buddies and we all scrambled on our costumes. Got all of Sol's clothing finished (huzzah!) including the RIOT patch on the back of his shirt which I (clumsily) embroidered. Now all I have left to do is his head protector thing. That will involve messing around with sheet metal, spray paint, foam, and Brian's Dremmel again. :/

Then went to go to see "The Return of the King" with Beren Alex One-Hand, the only other hardcore Tolkien fan I can constantly bitch and moan to. XD And we did a lot of bitching and moaning about "The Return of the King." Afterwards we quizzed ourselves on various Tolkien facts, like trying to name all the interracial marriages (Thingol/Melian, Beren/Luthien, Amroth/Nimrodel, Aragorn/Arwen) and racking our brains for who built the first Minas Tirith (Finrod Felagund, but it was mainly in Orodreth's keeping) and what the name of Feanor's wife was (Nerdanel).

Then I headed home to watch episode 77 of Naruto (which I am now starting to hate more and more) and...that was my Saturday. ^^;;

At the library right now, trying to get some of the reading for 9.70 done. =_=;; Why is the textbook so boring? *snore* I should get started on the paper for my gay film class today (it's only 1250-1750 words...my entire outline for my yaoi panel was about 800 words. I'm sure I can manage 1250 in a matter of two or three hours), get some Japanese done, and get started/finish Sol's head protector. :/

You have no idea how much I just want to wear my Konoha headband and be Ninja!Sol. I would, but I really hate Naruto now (the anime sucks so much ass). >_< I guess I better put more work into his headband thingy. *insert grumbling here*

Looks like the swords aren't going to get done. Roni doesn't have the Fuuraiken finished yet, so I guess I'm not totally panicking about the Fuuenken anymore. You have no idea how much weight was just taken off my shoulders with that. =_= *falls over*

Maybe I'll even have time to work at DDR today. :3 That would be so nice...

Skuld's Week of Hell: Day Two

My lab in Osaka this summer.

Looks like a fun group of guys. If you look at the May 10, 2003 picture, you'll spot a white guy, who is one of my classmates, Todd Logan who went from MIT last year. ^_^ I have the feeling that my lab is going to be fairly relaxed, so I think I'm going to have a lot of fun being in Osaka. :3 I'm also sure I can probably get someone there to teach me Osaka-ben.... *fufufu*

Anyways, less than five hours of sleep tonight! Whee~~! Hosage rules! @_@

Today, I wrote down a list of all the work I have to do.
Shit.

I have a lot of work. I was killed by the work from my midterm for 9.09 (I don't even know what I got yet), but this week is at least ten times as hellish as that. *falls over* I have so much work to do today, tomorrow, and the rest of the fucking week before Anime Boston.

I will be proving I am alive by daily updates here. ^_^

Oh, and Happy April Fools to you all. I never got any tricks played on me, nor were there any MIT hacks aside from I.S. getting a call about a smoking and beeping wireless access point.

And those of you (*coughavatrix*cough*) who believed the "Naruto got licensed" prank should've checked what day it was. ^_^
