New highs and new lows

So work never actually happened last night, which I guess is all right since not only did not I have any assignments due today (for the first time in ages! Huzzah!), the amount of shit-giving has hit an all-time low for me. In a rather pathetic attempt to make that sound like a good thing, I'm going to say that my apathy has hit an all-time high (because things hitting all-time highs sounds better and feels more positive than things hitting all-time lows ^_^) and I will be gratutiously ignoring the fact that shit-giving and apathy are directly inversely proportional.

To recap awesome things happening in the past few days:

Kyou Kara Maou: is apparently 3rd on the popularity ratings in Newtype, behind Gundam SEED and Fullmetal Alchemist (henceforth to be referred to by me as "Fullmental Alchemist"). That fact along completely boggles my mind. Kyou Kara Maou has below-average animation quality, a so-so storyline, an annoying as hell main character...and yet it somehow has risen near the top of the Newtype charts and still has my attention.

Oh wait, that's because it's as blatantly shounen-ai as you can get without crossing the blatant shounen-ai threshold. Oh, the power of fangirls. Look at what we're doing. We're mainstreaming our previously underground culture. We're giving our gay boys exposure. I think I'm feeling positive enough to be proud. ^_________^

So watch Kyou Kara Maou people, if you want to see silly stuff and lots of not-so-implicit gayness. :3 WolframxYuuri forever!

Gankutsuou: Holy crap, now I know why the quality in Samurai 7 turned to shit. It's because Gonzo was churning out this beauty. Gankutsuou, an on-crack retelling of The Count of Monte Cristo is stunning. Absolutely beautiful. Makes me drool all over the fucking place. *blawah* There are some alterations to the storyline (as always expected) but it is still wonderful. ^_^ Watch it, if you want to see pretty colors all over the place.

Red Dwarf: I'd been looking for torrents for this when torrent itself first came out, but that stopped quickly because I couldn't find anything. At last, I have found Red Dwarf torrents, and I now have all of seasons 1-7 on my computer. ^_^ Squee! Unfortunately the majority of the DVD rips are from the Japanese DVDs, in which a few untranslateable jokes were edited out. :/ I was actually kind of disappointed at that. ._. *sighs* But at this point in time, I'll take what I can get and look for the unedited versions later.

I mean seriously, how in hell do you translate in Japanese Cat saying, "Thanski verski muchski budski!" when he's attempting to speak Bulgarian?

Oh well, beggars can't be choosers. :x I'll take my 95% pure Red Dwarf and fly with it.
