Where'd you put that tree trunk?

Ganked this little link off one of my friends, MillyFan who was recently wanked on Fandom_Wank, a stinking pile of fandom rejects and debris if I ever saw one.

That about sums up my opinion of Fandom Wank and all of its constituents. May the wank grow in such magnitude so as the entire community implodes upon reaching critical density, leaving only in its wake a black hole and event horizon as a warning to all fandom posterity to come.

Personally, I love Fandom Wank. I think it has an important social steam valve/gasket role to play in fandom. Frankly, most folks in fandom just take the whole thing way to seriously. Even I have had my moments over the years. However, the fact is that fandom is just like religion - there are the "faithful" and the "agnostic." FW just reminds me of that a little bit every day so I don't take myself so damn seriously and I don't get drug into arguments over nothing.

Instead I read the arguments, get a chuckle in my day, and walk away.

I think that's what fandom wank used to be, but what it's turned into totally disgusts me.

It's just a bunch of fangirls who sit around, patting themselves on the back because other people are dumber than they are, and spewing forth the same, "OMGWTFBBQ, what a bitch" and congradulating themselves on catching yet another person in the fandom who takes themselves too seriously.

The fact that F_W is there for over 2000 people to sit around and go, "Hahaha, I've got nothing better to do with my life, let's go laugh at foobar" is kind of a sign that there's something a little serious going on beneath the happy, mocky F_W facade.
