Oh, the sweet taste of freedom!
This academic term is over, my friends. ^_^ I have managed to survive not giving a shit about my statistics class (I think I did pretty well on the final, even though I had a bullshit through some probabilities) and absolutely hating my neurophysiology class (the last page kicked my ass, but I killed the rest of it). I made it through all those annoying-as-hell papers and reviews I had to write for 9.12 lab, and haven't yet killed any cells in lab-lab! Go me!
I did well on my General GREs, don't know about my subject GREs yet (but I think I did pretty good on that too, we'll have to see), I got all my grad applications in except for Columbia, and I'm still alive.
w00000000! The term of hell is OVER, bitch! No class for over a month! YEEEEAAAAHHHH! *dances around wildly* Oh, it feels so good. ^_^ Sooooo good.
Seeing Andy Lynn tonight, awesome Fenway House alum from way back in freshman year who was a cool guy. He's the one that got me involved in Mystery Hunt in the first place, and since he's now back from Florence, Italy where he's been studying architecture, it'll be a nice night to hang out with him and the rest of all his friends (and our mutual friends) at Sunset. Kakashi and Destra are coming along too, and it's just going to be a blast. Despite the fact that I've already been drunk off my ass once this week (go RoTK Extended Edition! XD) I feel like getting shitfaced again. :x I'm such a lush. <3
Anyways, here's an interesting meme of 2004 ganked from Ari and Clare. It feels like the year is already over. ^_^;; Aaaahhh...it is with fond memories that I look back upon what has befallen me this past year.
1. What did you do in 2004 that you'd never done before?
Traveled alone in a foreign country, completely without the supervision of parents. ^_^ Oftentimes it was just me, myself, and I. It was lonely at times, but the lack of parentage kicked ass.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I try not to make them, because I never keep any resolutions. I give into temptation too easily. ^_^
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Nope.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Not anyone I know, unless I'm really out of the loop.
5. What countries did you visit?
Japan. ^_^
6. What would you like to have in 2005 that you lacked in 2004?
A lot of things, I think. I think in 2005 I'd like to have a significant other (girlfriend or boyfriend, either one, doesn't really matter to me) that lives IN THE SAME STATE as me. I hope that's not too much to ask. I'm so sick of long-distance relationships, I just want somebody here with me. ;___;
7. What dates from 2004 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I'll never forget the awesome times I had in Japan. With Sam and Kalvin and Joel, with Mel, with Seiji-kun, with Mikio-kun, with Doi-san, with Kazuma-kun, with Wally, with Janet, and by myself. It was amazing. Even the times where I sat at the computer and angsted, when I was riding the subway and wallowing in my own bitterness, when I was alone in my room writing fanfiction and listening to Ayumi Hamasaki...
It was totally awesome. The entire trip, and I really hope that one day, I'll get to go back to Japan again and hang out some more.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Managing to pull myself together and surviving the semester-of-hell this fall. I broke up with Roni", hooked up with Kakashi, had to do grad apps, take GREs, deal with my workload, amongst three million other things that life tossed in my direction. I'm fucking exhausted, but I feel great.
9. What was your biggest failure?
I think there were some things I should have realized earlier, over the summer that I just ignored and shoved off to the side. I let some things go on too long, I let myself be fooled by illusions that I had created myself. But in the end, I think I've come out a cooler person for having survived the ordeal.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nothing worse than a cold or a scraped knee. :x
11. What was the best thing you bought?
Pretty much everything I purchased in Japan. I don't think I bought a single thing I regretted buying. Whee, merchandise!
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
The Boston Red Sox. And boy, did we celebrate. ^_^
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
The American voters. I am still disgusted.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Oh dear, my mother's going to ask this question when she realizes how little money I have left in my account. =_=;; Well, here's the answer. 1) new computer, 2) GREs, 3) college apps, 4) food, 5) textbooks, and just about adds up to how much Mom gave me. :/
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Anime cons. I always get really, really, really excited about anime cons. ^_^ Oh yeah, and comiket. :x
16. What song will always remind you of 2004?
I dunno. ^_^ I don't really listen to the lyrics of songs that much.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? About the same.
b) thinner or fatter? A little bit thinner
c) richer or poorer? Definitely poorer.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Hanging out with the people I have good memories of. Ed, Janet, Chiko, Charm & Crystal, Destra, Kakashi, Alex, Yang, Ridii, Mike Lewis, Will, Sarto, Bob...yeah, those peeps. I also wish I'd get more hangout time with the Lucky Hit Pirate Crew and their associates. ^_^ One day...one day...
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Work, obviously. :3
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Home, home on the range with Charm and Crystal, and with the parents after they get back home.
22. Did you fall in love in 2004?
I definitely fell out of love. XD And though I'm in an interesting relationship now, I don't think that's really 'love.' At the moment, I'm not sure if I'm capable of that.
23. How many one-night stands?
Not enough, so I'll be making up for that in 2005, I hope.
24. What was your favorite TV program?
I don't watch TV anymore, but I did watch some Japanese television while I was there. I didn't get that much anime, but I did get to watch some hilarious kid's shows in the mornings before I went off to lab. I think my favorite was Pitakora Suicchi. (Pitakora Switch? I dunno.)
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I think I still hate the same people I hate, though a couple of people have definitely lost a lot of my respect.
26. What was the best book you read?
That's a toughie. I don't think I read that many books in 2004, to be honest. I just don't read anymore, which is kind of sad. ._.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Big Top Vertigo and Six Day Slide.
28. What did you want and got?
To go to Japan and spend LOTS of money of material goodness and karaoke. :D
29. What did you want and not get?
Girlxgirl lovings. Oh well.
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Crap, I don't watch movies anymore, either. ^^;; I dunno, I haven't seen it yet, but I'm probably going to have to slap "Phantom" down. ^_^ I just know I'm going to love it.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I got myself so drunk I had to be carried out by Ed and Kakashi. That was fucking awesome. ^_^
32.What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Sex.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2004?
My fashion hasn't changed since 8th grade. T-shirt, baggy jeans, plaid shirt on top. I will never change. XD
34. What kept you sane?
I am NOT sane.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
The various that I'm always fancying. The most amount of squeeage ever to be achieved however, was at Seki Toshihiko. :3 Squee!
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
The election, and everything associated with that.
37. Who did you miss?
Too many people who are now gone. Ray, Lewis, Ed, Charm, Crystal...
38. Who was the best new person you met?
My clone. One of my favoritest people ever. *huggles him lots*
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2004:
That all my concerns of the previous year didn't actually matter. In fact, in the long run, very few things do, so you're better off not worrying about them.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
...uhhh... >_____>
get back to me on that one.
