Basket Case

| | Comments (8)

If I was stoned more often, this would totally be my song:

Do you have the time to listen to me whine
About nothing and everything all at once
I am one of those melodramatic fools
Neurotic to the bone
no doubt about it

Sometimes I give myself the creeps
Sometimes my mind plays tricks on me
It all keeps adding up
I think I'm cracking
Am I just paranoid?
Or am I just stoned?

I went to a shrink to analyze my dreams
She says it's lack of sex that's bringing me down
I went to a whore he said my life's a bore
So quit my whining cause
it's bringing her down

Yeah, that's me.

=_____=

On real news, I'm still sick. I almost died on campus today. Okay, I didn't die, but I did get hit with a huge wave of feeling-like-shit right about 1pm. Still kinda got it too, which is rather unhappy. I hope MIT Medical tells me tomorrow what's wrong with me, but I think they'll just give me a pregnancy test instead because that's what they always do. At least I know I'm not pregnant.

Classes start tomorrow. Got a class that runs from 1-3pm, and then one that runs from 7-10pm. I hate you MIT scheduling. =_=;; Oh well, it gives me time to go to MIT Medical and maybe crash for a couple of hours on campus. ^^;;

See y'all in class tomorrow, I suppose.l

Pics!

I've uploaded a whole bunch of images I took during the month of January.

Here's some highlights from Mystery Hunt:

- The Pturnips setting up
- Our first puzzle (the yellow letters spell READ THIS)
- The door to Pturnips HQ
- Halfway through the hunt, an HQ crowded with solvers
- Frustrated Mystery Hunters
- The board

...and that's all I have of Mystery Hunt 2005. ;___; (The rest of the pictures are in the MysteryHunt05 folder.) The actual puzzles are here. ^_^ Some of them are rather easy, some of them are incredibly frustrating. Some of you ought to try to solve Seven Days, which is one of the most fun puzzles I've come across, especially for the first realization of what all the pictures mean. ^_^ No cheating, folks!

Okay, you've probably been waiting for Raito and L pics, haven't you? Unfortunately I have terminal suckness when it comes to pictures of me (I get more and more unphotogenic in my old age), so they're mostly of my totally adorable and cute Raito. <3 *hearts all over*

- Raito lounging in the common room at Harvard
- Raito taking a break and pondering who to kill next
- Another shot of the above
- Raito and L sitting around (see what I mean by unphotogenic? ^^;;)
- Raito being 1337 at foosball
- L having his way with Raito
- L with an evil grin, about to have his way with Raito

...all right, that's all I've got for you guys. :3 It's time for me to get dressed (yup, I'm still lounging around in my PJs), shower, and get ready for reg day tomorrow. Classes start on Tuesday! *gasp*

Vericon! ...and being sick

| | Comments (11)

So despite having no fever (it broke Thursday morning), I'm still totally fatigued, which means I either have mono or I'm just in the process of recovering from a nasty bug. Hopefully the latter.

Anyways, I went to Vericon today, just for the heck of it because my Raito and I were slated to play (cosplay human) chess against each other. ^_^ I mean, seriously, are you going to miss a chess match between Raito and L? I think not. :3

Raito and I came up with this awesome premise for the chess match, namely that I'd challenged him to a duel-by-chess. If I won he'd confess as Kira, and if he won, I'd tell him my real name. We set it up so that I lost, so we could have a lovely tragic scene aftewards--I tell Raito his name, he writes it in his Death Note, but I pull out a slip of paper (a piece of the Death Note) that has his name written on it, the condition of death being after he writes my name in the Death Note. Oh, so dramatic as we died in each other's arms on the floor. ^____^ *hearts and sparkles all over* I hope people got good pictures of that, 'cause I want some of those. XD

Anyways, it was wonderful finally meeting my Raito, we really hit it off. I hope we get together soon to just hang out, play video games and watch anime when I'm not dying of fatigue. Yay for my Raito. *hearts*

School starts on Tuesday. Boo, I say, boo. :/ *sigh* Where has my IAP gone? Where have all the video games I promised to play (but never did) gone? -_-;; *sigh* So little time, but that is how things ALWAYS turn out.

Anyways, shouts out to people I saw at Vericon. Cocoa (thanks for the shot glass! <3), Claudia, Mike, Byron, and Dennis Clark.

Yes Chiko, I saw DENNIS CLARK again after like...7 years. It was amazing. XD He still kind of looks the same (facially, which is how I identified him), but he's got more style and social skills now. He's a nice guy. Shout-out to Dennis, who isn't reading, but who's cool anyway. :D

Pictures of me as L, Mel as Raito, and maybe even Mystery Hunt randomness to come. ^_^

I want to puke

| | Comments (8)

Malima puked this morning, and now she's feeling pretty fine.

...why can't I puke and then suddenly feel great? You know, like I puke when I'm drunk, and then suddenly I'm sober again. Puke, dammit! Puke! And dry heaving doesn't count! >________<

I NEED to get better! Especially with fun stuff happening this weekend! Get better, dammit!

:/ Whatever this bug is that I caught...shit, it's totally kicking my ass and using me to wipe the floor. >( I will defeat you yet, fever!

Yup, still sick. My fever went up again last night. Damn, I'm really getting used to this ibuprofen thing. I used to take 2 tablets, now I've progressed up to 3. :/ Boo.

And it's snowing outside again, which means that today at least, I probably won't be able to 1) hit up Sephora, 2) hit up Condom World for handcuffs. More Boo. I wish I hadn't gotten sick so badly. I blame all of this on playing in the snow at 3am. At least it was fun while it lasted.

Fever still hovering at about 101. >_> Starting to sweat now, which I guess means my fever's breaking again. Go 600mg of ibuprofen. Hittin' the sack again, and hoping this time the fever's stayin' down.

Still sick

| | Comments (9)

Spent the day today at home, after waking up with a horrible 102 degree fever. Bleh. It wasn't until just a couple of hours ago that my fever broke, which is good. I hope it doesn't go up again in the night.

I'm also still dizzy, and feeling slightly queasy, so though I'm hungry, I don't think I could actually eat anything. I haven't had food all since I got up at 8am and sat around playing chess with myself.

...not sure what else to say. O______o *sweatdrop*

I'm sick. :/ Blech.
I was getting the first inklings of it last night when I was starting to get all sniffly and blowing my nose like crazy, but I never thought I'd be getting a fever to boot. :/

oh well, not heading to lab tomorrow. ^^;; If I'm well I'll stop off at Sephora tomorrow for make-up products (because I believe that cosplay never looks quite as good unless you have some sort of make-up on) and handcuffs for me and Raito. ^____^

I go to crash now.

SNOW!!

| | Comments (8)

There is so much snow in Boston right now. About three feet of it. I've been buried for two days in snow and in setting up my room. ^^;; The new Void of Yaoi Doom is about 95% done. All we have to do is move down the crappy old coffeetable to the shed, get a cover for our futon, and we are so ready to rumble. ^_^ Yaaaaay! Okay, I have some indoor Christmas lights to hang up in my desk area (oh, I love the ambient lighting) and then I'll totally be good to go. :D *happy grin* That's why I've been gone for the past couple of days. ^^;; Not online and such, because we had to pretty much completely disassemble the loft, move everything, and then rebuild it in the next room because it was too big to fit through the doorways. It was a pain in the ass, but our hard work has totally paid off. ^_^ <3 *heart*

Anyways, playing in the snow is ton of fun. For the first few hours, when there was little wind early Saturday evening, the snow was falling in big powdery chunks. The kind that's terrible for snowball fights, but the kind looked like snow-globe snow. It was all shiny in the light, and all in big, happy flakes. ^_^ So magical. <3

At about 1am, Malima came in and suggested to us that we drink and then go outside to play in the snow. ^_^ So we downed lots of shots of vodka and cream liqueur, filled up a couple of hip flasks with more drink, and then went to play in the snow at about 3am. We were sledding down hills, making snow angels, swinging on swing sets and sliding down snow-filled slides, taking candy from strangers...

Seriously, it could not have been more fun.

Alas, much to my dismay, BU has cancelled school but MIT has not closed, which means that tomorrow I still have to haul my ass to lab. Oh, at times like this I do wish I lived on campus. The trek to lab isn't going to be fun tomorrow morning. :/ I might just give up and take the subway, because it will be warmer, and possibly faster. -_-;;

Oh well. :D The Void of Yaoi Doom totally rocks me right now. Pictures to come, of course. But for now... I must do my 'homework.'

EDIT: LotR fans will find this little commentary on Boromir rather amusing. ^_^

O_o Just got an e-mail from UCLA...they want me to interview there too. :D *jumps up and down with glee* That means I'm missing classes about every two weeks...but...¬_¬ who cares about classes when I might get into grad school? :D

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

On other YAAAAAAAY business, the Pirates vs. Ninjas party was pretty fun. We whipped out the good old Game Cube and played a whole buttload of Mario Kart, which had all the room going, "ooooooh!" whenever somebody fell off the track. ^_^ We also had awesome games of Spoons going, which totally made my evening awesome.

I have to get up early tomorrow, unfortunately, to make it to lab around 10:30 or 11am, and I also have to read a protocol for RNA isolation that's about four pages long and looks rather nasty. :/ *sighs* I think this means I'll have to make it to campus early to make a printout of it too, because the printer in the house is down...which is why I'm going to bed so early. Since when have I been an early-to-bed type? I think it's Destra's bad influence corrupting me, I'm usually an insomniac. :3 Like L.

Never fear, I shall be my normal insomniac self after: 1) I get out of limbo and set up my room over the weekend, and 2) classes actually start

Fwee!!

Little Busters

| | Comments (9)

Feeling kind of down because I have to get up at 8:30 am tomorrow to go to the stupid House Manager class that MIT is running because I'm house manager of Fenway House this term. I suppose the consolation of knowing what I'm doing won't be so bad. *sweatdrop*

The bad part is that I think the awesome plans for the second incarnation of the VOYD are going to fall through. :/ There's no way we're going to get the humongous loft in the Front-3 moved into the Rick Green, because the doors are just plain too small and the loft is just plain too big, and not even made to be taken apart. :/ I fear the solution is to give the Rick Green (the Front 3's little closet room) to Destra, and have my room be the Front-3, housing the TV, the sewing machine, the fridges, and everything cool. :/ Dude, talk about total bummer. -_-;; *sighs*

...and our VOYD was going to be so cool too, what with the Front-3 being a common room and the Rick Green being our sleeping quarters. :/

Dammit. Life hates me.

I'm going to go and play Chain of Memories. ;____;

Pirates vs. Ninjas

| | Comments (28)

There's a Pirates vs. Ninjas party at Fenway House on the 20th at 8pm, so I highly suggest that everybody who wants a good time should come on over. ^_^ You have to be dressed up of course, however ghettoly you choose. :3 There won't be alcohol, so you don't have to worry about me getting drunk or about you getting drunk either. ^_^ Y'all should come and have fun.

...the problem is, of course, that I have about 1 day to organize this...and yeah, that spells badness. :x Oh well.

The new room is still a shithole, but I'm hoping to fix that before the party begins, so the Voyd of Yaoi Doom will be t3h pretteh.

Oh yes, it will. And it will be t3h awesome, as it is in an awesome suite situation with Destra and Malima.

Word to your mother.

Brief Interlude

| | Comments (8)

So Mystery Hunt ended between 6:30 to 7pm yesterday. Good thing for us, it wasn't a horribly long hunt like the previous two years.

We didn't make it to the final runaround, but I think we were 4th or 5th in the running. ^_^ Those damn meta puzzles were hard. Anyways...

now my new room is a shithole, and me and Destra probably won't be able to fix that for a couple of days yet. :/

...*sigh*

The raws of Death Note 53 are out...and DAMN. O__O
awesomeness.

Read Death Note, fools.

Dead

| | Comments (8)

Mystery Hunt on Friday, totally can't wait.
My last Mystery Hunt, oh I'm so nostalgic. *sniff*

On my list of other things...
I'm DEAD.

Just...dead and exhasuted, and it's only 9am, and I have half of my room to move down a floor + Destra's stuff. ARGH! *grumble grumble*

I wish I could sleep...for the next 12 hours. =_=;;

But nope...as soon as I finish work week tomorrow, I get to finish moving my room and then get up bright and early for MYSTERY HUNT! Oh joy, it'll take about 2 days for me to recover from the WEEK OF HELL.

...why do weeks of hell happen for me every couple months or so? *bang head*

Good news rules

| | Comments (9)

You guys are probably wondering where I went for a couple of days. =_=;;
The network went down at the Rogue Nation of Fenway because we've been working on our cables and routing not being a complete nightmare, so it was down for a couple of days...

but now it's back, and better than ever! *grin*

Anyways, nothing much new other than the fact that work week is totally killing me, but thank god I only have tomorrow and Thursday left. Technically I'm supposed to work Friday too, but that will be Mystery Hunt day, wherein I back my bags, a whole shitload of books (among other crap), shower the morning of, and then sit around in a couple of MIT classrooms for 48-60 hours solving weird sorts of puzzles. (Not the jigsaw kind, the cryptogram, crossword, whatever-you-have-it kind.) It'll be fun, I can hardly wait.

Other good news, UPenn contacted me over e-mail to let me know that I have an interview with them. Wow, they're pretty quick on the turnaround here! I only hope the other schools don't totally ignore me! *sniffles* I better be sending out e-mails to those faculty soon! *gulp* I should hit up UCSF as soon as possible... >_> ... and probably Stanford too... hmm...

Anyways...yeah. :D

Yay, interview at Penn! *dances around happily*

At last the plan that I had been cultivating since before Fenway House become its own sovereign Rogue Nation has come to fruitiion.

It has been almost four months that I had been slowly cultivating and culturing this bowl, but sadly my secret project was revealed when Eva purged the fridge earlier this evening.

Here is the picture of the media exposé.

For an awesome surprise, pictured here is the contents of said bowl of biological weapons. Here's another closeup.

Unfortunately, before being able to test my awesome creation (whose contents consisted solely of chili) on the neighbors next door (too bad Cancer Lady's car wasn't out there), I decided to throw it in the dumpster before containment failed and my weapon backfired upon the citizens of my newly formed nation.

... dammit.

Well, there's always next time.

(on another note, work week starts tomorrow, which means...yeah. I will be working rebuilding my new house/nation. A LOT.)

Awesomeness +1

| | Comments (15)

You might be wondering why I am feeling so awesome right now.

Let me count the ways:

1. The entity formly known as Fenway House has seceded from the Union (due to differences in political view) and we are now the Rogue Nation of Fenway.

2. I am House Manager/Ruler of the Rogue Nation of Fenway.

3. I will be living in a 3-room suite next semester with Malima and Destra.

4. The Rogue Nation of Fenway will be having a celebration of its newfound independence on January 20, 2005.

Does it get any better? I submit that it cannot.

And now for...
the summary of Skuld's winter holiday! Yaaaay! (And there was much rejoicing)

Charm and Crystal
The first part of the holiday was spent at Charm and Crystal's house, because my own parents failed to return from China before I did. Oh well, that's okay, because Charm and Crystal's house is far more enjoyable than my own. ^_^

There Charm, Crystal and I did various things, including snowboarding, playing pool, playing Uno, playing with digital cameras, and had crazy conversations. I still can't remember where Charm and I went one night after talking about midgets and dwarves, but we were giggling like mad. >_>

Anyways, here's some videos to amuse you all:

- Charm suddenly realizing I'm recording her
- Crystal, Charm's little sister, says 'hi'
- Crystal wonders what a furry is

Charm's also got a picture of me scratching my ass in my PJs on her camera, once she gives it to me I shall upload. >_> ...maybe. <_<

...did I just say I'd upload a pic of me scratching my own ass? ^^;; *sweatdrop*

Home Sweet Home
On the morning of the 26th of December my own mother finally picked me up to go home. Home was, much to my misfortune, rather boring. We didn't have internet yet, and all I had for amusement was my wu-xia VCDs (somehow Tian Long Ba Bu was hard to get into) and whatever manga/anime was on my computer. This is where I did the most catching up on manga. :x Thankfully I only spent about a total of 4 days at home, otherwise I would've been driven out of my mind with boredom.

Chicago
On the 31st I flew to Chicago, where I was going to hang with the ex-girlfriend for about 4 or 5 days. Surprisingly the time passed ridiculously quickly. I have no idea where it went, cause it sure wasn't long enough. I missed Ginga and Haku because we never got the chance to hang out, but somehow my days were filled with stuff anyways (probably because I slept until noon). There, I got to finish watching FLCL and Hellsing, both of which are pretty good series.

I got Chaos Legion from Roni for Christmas, which made me feel awesome because I adore hack-and-slash games (mostly for the slash *cough*). I also played a lot of pool over at her place, and finally got myself some skillz. ^_^ Yay!

The first night at Roni's we went over to her friends' New Years Eve party where we watched an awesome B-movie (>_> I wonder if it even qualifies as B-movie...) called Max Magician and the Legend of the Rings which was true MST material. Not only did the DVD box itself contain a typo (yay for 'magigcal' adventures!), the extras on the DVD contained footage of stuff not even related to the movie itself. In other words, the movie was ridiculously hilariously awesome, but would have been better had I been drunk at the time and not involved in a game of Cutthroat.

The highlight of my trip to Roni's place was of course, the last day, which we spent productively by eating chips, ice cream, and tacos, drinking Guinness, and watching the entire extended edition trilogy of the Lord of the Rings. It was pure bliss. By the end we were so giddy that we weren't quite sure what was going on, and I can't quite remember what we were talking about, but a lot of it involved slashiness and making fun of the pink Orc in RotK. We apparently learned a few things from watching it too, but none of that we really remember. I think they involved slashy things and silly things, though I really can't be sure, because I was too drugged up on alcohol and fatty foods for my brain to really function properly.

All I remember is that Roni hates the Pink Orc (whose name is Gothmog), and her favorite Hobbit is the crotchety one you see in FotR and RotK (you know, the one that's always scowling). My favorite Orc is the one who falls off the siege tower randomly in RotK, and I like the dude who bounces off the roof of the first circle of Minas Tirith after he gets picked up by one of the Nazgul. <_< I think a lot of our jokes also involved Sam and Frodo, and Frodo's line, "naked in the dark" which followed Sam's "strawberries with cream" line. The next time I watch this series, I'm definitely running it in the background with the commentary while I do my work. ...cause yeah, that's just awesome. XD

The Trip Home
Chicago really hates me. >_> I swear it does. It never wants me to go there, and when I'm there, it doesn't want me to leave. I left the day the horrible blizzard started, and was one of the few, few lucky people to have made it out on the few, few planes going out of O'Hare that day. My original flight had been cancelled, and I had to connect to a flight in Atlanta with 40 minutes. Naturally, there being a storm in Chicago, my plane was over 20 mins. late, and less than 20 mins. to switch terminals in Atlanta, and make my flight. I was running like hell, needless to say. I made it home to Boston, but my suitcase didn't, and I had to wait until 3am for them to deliver it to me.

>_> The trip was ass, but airplane trips always are, being totally cramped and unable to sleep, and having some sketchy guy feeling you up on his sleep. :x Yeah, that's what happened on the first flight. =______= *sighs*

Oh well, I'm home. That's all that matters.

And before I forget, Roni and her little sister re-dyed my hair red over the break. ^_^ Well, most of it is red, the tips at the back and are purple. ^_^ check out the pics!

It'll probably wash out soon, wherein I'll dye my hair back to black so I can be a happy, wide-eyed L for Mel-ru. ^_^

Yay for Death Note and stuff.

...okay, I be crashing right about now. =_____=

new layout

New layout! ^_^ Huzzah!

Go One Piece manga. (Yes, I'm all caught up. :x In fact, I'm caught up on One Piece, Naruto, and Death Note, and Bleach. ^^;; I've been pretty productive this winter break.)

What-happened-during-Skuld's-holiday update to come. :x

Tadaima!

Home, finally.
Actually, I made it back at about 7pm last night, minus one bag, but I'll tell that story later. I got in briefly, and then was dragged to dinner by Chris, Andy, Salib, and Mari. :3 Yay for foods.

Speaking of foods, I love my Net-Mommy, who being the best Mommy EVAR has sent me, for Christmas, loads and loads of food. ;_______; I have instant miso soup, lychee candies, boxes and boxes of various types of Pocky, and several bowls of instant ramen and instant udon. ;______; *cries a flood* I am so loved! I am so happy because it's cold outside in Boston and snowing and with my food-presents I can be all hermity and not have to go outside! *sniffles of joy*

I love my Mommy!
I love everybody who gave me presents and cards this holiday season! <3 *heart*

Anyways, I haven't blogged since leaving for Roni's house, but no fear, a long entry will follow me washing my dishes I left over the holidays (yeah, eeewww), maybe putting up a new layout (of One Piece goodness! :D), and making myself some awesome food. :D

See you in a bit folks. ^_^v
