ARG!

| | Comments (9)

I think I've gotten sucked into Project Syzygy because it's like Mystery Hunt all over again, except with some key differences. This ARG has more people, more resources, more story, more ties to the real world, and spans more time so that I don't have to spend every single waking moment solving puzzles.

The downside is that there's no real sense of people-people interaction or the in-jokes and comraderie you get in Mystery Hunt...well, maybe not yet since I'm still kind of a n00b at this ARG thing. Anyways, I'm excited because if I can't be doing Mystery Hunt anymore, maybe I can do this ARG thing to pass the not-Mystery-Hunt-yet time. :3

I blame this entire thing on Avatrix, who tries to give me addictive substances to suck my soul away.

Just bought tickets to the Final Fantasy: Dear Friends concert on May 20th in Hartford, CT.

Rockin' baby. Got a ride too, since Double Mark of Tetazoo is going. :3 Coolness.

Who else is coming? Get those tickets while they're hot. XD

Who's going to the Final Fantasy: Dear Friends concert in Hartford? >_>

Or rather...who wants to go and grab a group with me? ^____^ And give me a ride. ^^;

There's always one day of the week that I absolutely despise, mostly because it despises me back. Usually it's Monday, but I think today, Tuesday, is the day that hates me.

I started out with missing the bus by 30 seconds, and then subsequently being 15 minutes late for work because for some reason, the buses decided they should travel in packs. Buses should not travel in packs, goddammit. I want a bus every 15 minutes, not three every 45. *bangs head against wall* Now I'm actually sitting here at work getting some chills (the bad kind that come right before you get sick) and my stomach is waging war on the rest of my body by simultaneously being very empty and very upset. Ugh. I blame the upsetness on the hot wings I ate last night. They were ridiculously hot, and the Mountain Dew I was drinking at the time didn't help either, I'm sure.

I can already tell that Tuesday is going to suck. :/

Senioritis isn't just about homework.
It's also about projects, like ficwriting (I've actually been making pen and paper progess on Miles 5, but I'm too lazy to actually convert it into digital text) and cosplay (Legato is going to strangle me if I don't get his costume done...but guess what? The strangulation isn't going to come now, so I'm going to punt it)...and all other things in life like sleeping and showering.

My life hates me, I think. Where's my motivation? Where did it go? =____=

AND WHERE THE HELL DID MY FANDOM GO? I think if I had a stable fandom supporting me, I'd be a little saner. Cause fandom makes the rabid bunnies go away. Or at least stop trying to take over my mind when I'm not doing tedious (like homework, cosplay, and showering) or fanficcy things.

I thought that this would've made the bunnies go away, but no, they just made them worse.

Somebody needs to get me Star Wars patch, cause there's no way I'm going to be quitting cold turkey. *scratches at arm* AAUUUGGGHHH! KOTOOOOOR! O_O MAUL/OBIIIII NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

Ice ice baby

Hey everybody, guess who Aokiji's seiyuu is! XD

If you guessed Koyasu Takehito then you're very correct. >3

Now I can cheer because Koyasu Takehito is in ONE PIECE. As one of the most kickass Devil Fruit users ever. The roXX0r.

buttsex

| | Comments (10)

Mikhail's livejournal has kindly informed me that "subtext" anagrams into "buttsex." I'm surprised I hadn't noticed this earlier, but then again I don't go around anagramming words.

This is definitely saying something. *cough*

Sunday chilling

| | Comments (13)

Happy Easter to y'all. Spent the morning doing reading for class that I've put off the entire week for Spring Break (noo! Back to class tomorrow! *die*), and then later went to Avatrix's place for an excellent Easter dinner. :3

Christopher Robin is going to be coming over soon with The Incredibles DVD and we're going to watch that in a bit...until then, I think I'm going to sit around and be chill. ^_^ Because being chill is something I occasionally feel like I need in my fast-paced, obsessive life. *resists urge to grab double lightsaber hanging above computer*

Anyhoos, love for Mel, as always. We had a great day together yesterday going to Dim Sum, shopping, watching Battlestar Galactica and then woo-hooing in bed. XD ~<3 I can't wait to see her next week. *lovelovelove*

Decisions, Decisions

| | Comments (12)

I think I already decided two weeks ago where I wanted to go to grad school. I just kept putting it off because I wanted to find good reasons to change my mind. So far I haven't, and everybody keeps telling me that I should follow my heart, and not my head.

So that's it folks, I'm going to UCLA for graduate school in the fall. I kept on trying to find good reasons to go to UCSF or UPenn, but I couldn't find anything decent.

I guess I'll be seeing all you LA folks come fall. :3 And you guys can crash with me for AX and E3.

Shaft!

Just watched the ending of the DVD version of Return of the Jedi.

All I have to say, "Sorry Sebastian Shaw, you got the shaft from Hayden Christiansen. This proves that there is no God."

Your Horoscope for Today

| | Comments (9)

My Horoscope for Today:

Aquarius
There's travel in your future when your tongue freezes to the back of a speeding bus. Fill that void in your pathetic life by playing whack-a-mole seventeen hours a day.

Life amuses me so

| | Comments (9)

Despite the fact that I firmly believe that it is wrong to be 4 degrees away from freezing on my spring break, my life is pretty peachy at the moment. I think last night might have been the first night in about a week that I had no Star Wars-related dreams whatsoever. No lightsabers, no Force powers, just dreams about taking showers in semi-haunted mansions. Though I did wake up and think to myself, "Darth Maul, did I dream about you again?" Thankfully there was no answer.

Having a week straight of Star Wars dreams hasn't happened since way back in May 1999 wherein I had Phantom Menace dreams of me and ... ... ... okay, that's just way too embarassing to post in public. Unlike most of you internet folks, I do have a sense of shame and dignity, so ask me privately and maybe I will tell of t3h crack I was smoking in high school.

Anyways, I spent all of Tuesday wandering about St. Mark's Place in Manhattan, visiting used clothing stores mostly with Paul and his friend Justin. It was fun. Later on we stopped off at a cyber cafe called web2zone where Furry!Sean was waiting for some Guilty Gear buddies to show up and play #Reload. Nobody showed up until at least 6:30 or 7pm-ish, so he was spending a lot of time playing Tekken 5, which is game that thankfully does not take itself seriously.

I got myself a dinner mob of about 8 people (Mikhail, Ray & Lori, Big Hentai Mike, Paul, Justin, Hannah, and me) at a yakitori place (still at St. Mark's) and it was good. We had good times, and good drinking. Lots of good drinking. >_> Mikhail downed an entire pitcher of Kirin, and then proceeded to have some sake. Justin downed an entire pitcher of Kirin, and then proceeded to have about 3 more glasses of plum sake, and possibly more beer. Good times, I tell ya', good times. I miss the NYC crew already. ;_;

Wednesday was spent sleeping in pretty late in the morning, wherein I finally got up, cleaned up Mike's place a little (mostly messes I made) and headed out. I handed his keys back to him and headed off to Rockefeller Center to visit Kinokuniya. Finally got my hands on a copy of Death Note 4. The bus ride home was pretty uneventful. I slept most of the way, and when I couldn't sleep I sat around and ran loads of Star Wars crack in my mind. I think that's what happens when you take away my KotOR in the middle of a game. I get all crazy.

You guys have no idea how many times I've had to hold myself back from reading fanfiction since I crawled into work about 45 minutes ago. >_> ZOOMJ, bad idea to read NC-17 rated stuff while sitting at desk in the library. And there's this tiny voice in my head that goes, "But the fic is 50+ pages! There's no NC-17 yet! What's the harm in just reading to the steamy part?" Damn voice, get out of my head. Stop corrupting my wonderful law-abiding innocence.

I think I'm going to pretend to be productive and do some homework-ly reading. Ha! At least I'm trying.

The Pillows was really awesome last night. O_o So much the awesomeness. Unforutnately they mostly played their FLCL music, and not too much of their new stuff. But I guess that was good, because we were all singing along. The energy level was incredible. O_O

Their opening band, The Noodles was pretty good. They had good beats and fun melodies, so there wasn't any complaining. The next band, Daddy, was horrible. :/ I dunno exactly what you'd call an emo hair metal band, but they were everything bad an emo hair metal band could be. =___= *ugh* Their lead singer was terrible, and since she was their lyricist, she made things even worse. :/ Thankfully after fourty five minutes of their horribleness (wherein most people left to hang out in the bar or chill outside) the Pillows came on, and instantly everybody was energetic again. ^_^

And lo, I saw all my friends, and it was good. :3

I'm currently at Big Hentai Mike's place, and yeah, I know it's almost 1pm and I haven't left his apartment. My excuse is a somebody from the Boston Globe called me because she's writing an article on yaoi/boy's love in the United States, and we talked for an hour. :x I'll be getting out of the house soon. There'll be a dinner mob tonight at 8:30pm at Japanese place at St. Mark's place. I have yet to decide whether we'll be going to Kenka or Taisho, but since they're really close, we'll work the details out.

Taisho is at 9 St. Mark's Place. See y'all there at 8:30pm. ^_^

Oh, and all you 1337 Star Wars fans best be watching this. I think you will be greatly amused.

New York, New York

| | Comments (11)

Heading off to New York City for the Pillows concert. ^_^

Gonna be there until late Wednesday evening, so gimme a call if you want to get together or need to talk. I will be crashing at Big Hentai Mike's place, hopefully all will be well. ^^;;

Ciao guys, I'll be seeing all you NYC folks soon.

Mel is love. ^_^ Spent most of our time together cuddling. XD She came over, we cuddled. We went to Chili's for lunch and cuddled a bit there. We went home and cuddled on the couch in the common room. By then our shirts were off so we decided to climb into bed in the sleep room and cuddle there. ^_^ We even fell asleep together. <3

Today has been all about cuddling. :3 Now time to eat dinner and make some sprites for my video game. Boy, am I behind on that. ^^;;

THREE

it's 3pm and I just woke up.

too bad I feel like shit. ugh.

VICTOLY!

| | Comments (24)

I just beat KotOR2. Finally.

It shall haunt my every attempt to do homework no more! w00t!

So I'm actually really happy because I liked the ending. Those of y'all who complained about the ending should stuff it. Yes, it is cinematically unrewarding. Yes it leaves plot threads dangling. But guess what? ¬_¬ The nice little reward movies aren't the point. KotOR2 does great setup for KotOR3. The story was awesome, and the little lesson tidbits that Kreia fed me at the end were more rewarding than any movie could have been. Albeit KotOR didn't do a very good job of setting up the story of it's last third, I was glad it pulled out all the stops I wanted to. I definitely felt the game was worth playing. It was good, if not better than KotOR1.

Now let's end this. :3 *eagerly awaiting KotOR3...much more eagerly than Episode 3. ^^;;*

BONED!

Screwed!

I dunno, what do you guys think?

anime > video games ?
video games > anime?
Going to Video Game Class (2-5pm) > Anime Boston on Friday ?

Maybe I'll just cross that bridge when I get there.

STEAMBOY

| | Comments (8)

I am of a mind to see the Steamboy movie again. Okay, so I watched it last summer when it first came out in Japan, and the plot was only so-so, but the visuals and the music were stunning.

I think I almost cried a few times, despite only understanding about 70% of what was actually going on. I'm imagining the visuals again and now I think I'm going to cry.

Anyways, I think I'm going to try to hit the theatre on Sunday. Steamboy is definitely worth watching at least once, and I want to watch it again. Maybe it'll be better dubbed. Hey, anything's better if you've got Patrick Stewart to make it so! (Hahaha! I love my puns!)

So who's coming? I really encourage you guys to go and see it, if not with me this weekend.

post St. Patty's

| | Comments (8)

So despite the results of my post yesterday, Destra and I opted to go out to The Foggy Goggle, the bar right next to Pour House which we've been meaning to hit for quite a while. It's a great place, loud music was playing, there was much made with the partying and dancing, and all was good.

The Foggy Goggle is famous for what they call the "foggy fishbowl." Basically they take a fishbowl (fish not included) and you have your choice of various heavily spiked punches (I had both some vodka + orange stuff and some coconut rum + blue stuff) out of the fishbowl. Let me tell you, there was no way me and Destra were finishing those. She actually managed to polish off over half of the orange fishbowl, for which I was extremely impressed. I think I was heavily buzzed by the time I was 1/8 of the way through it, and totally smashed by the time we procured our second fishbowl. So totally smashed. I spent the rest of the evening totally smashed, but luckily at just the right amount of smashed that I did not need to throw up.

When we left it was almost 1am, and I was still piss-ass drunk. I got home and decided to flop into bed for lack of anything else to do (I was afraid I'd miss or forget something in the morning if I played some KotOR), and woke up promptly at 9am after having dreams of hauling my ass back to Japan and seeing my lab again. ^_^

Now that it is the Friday before spring break...I can punt and play KotOR all I want. ^_^

Hopefully sometime this weekend I will get to accomplish some of the B (oatmeal stout + KotOR) and especially some of the D (doing Mel). Yarrr. ^_^

St. Patty's Day

| | Comments (9)

Happy St. Patty's Day to y'all.

Here's your poll of the day:
What should Skuld do tonight?

a. Skuld should go out to a bar and drink
b. Skuld should stay at home and play KotOR2 while nursing the pint of oatmeal stout she's been saving for a rainy day
c. Skuld should not drink, and she should do her homework because Ernest Adams is coming to speak in her class tomorrow.
d. Mel.

Spring Break plans

| | Comments (12)

So here are the Spring Break plans:

3/18 Fri: Play KotOR2 until I drop. This activity is likely to carry on until daylight Saturday. Alternatively I could work on my Legato costume until I drop, but playing KotOR2 has a higher chance of actually happening. So close! So close!

3/19 Sat: Go to Avatrix's St. Patty's/Pirate party. Hopefully with the lovely Mel though that's still TBD. What is determined, however, is that I will be smashed.

3/20 Sun: Cling to Mel for as long as possible, then probably spend the rest of my time playing KotOR2/getting sprites done for Pirates vs. Ninjas (the former is probably the most likely to happen)

3/21 Mon: Take bus down to New York City. Arrive about 4pm, chill with Big Hentai Mike, and then go to the Pillows concert.

3/22 Tues: Hang out in NYC, possibly with Jojo, Alisa, Mikhail, Paul, and some combination of whoever else is going to be showing up and in town.

3/23 Wed: Get on bus to get back home, hopefully with enough time to check out Winmil Fabrics for my Katsushirou costume (I really need to get started on that) and do some work on Legato. ...or play KotOR2 if I haven't finished it by now.

3/24 Thurs: Get up at 9:30am, go to lab, and then spend the afternoon in the library because I need the monies.

3/25 Fri: Get up at 9:30am, go to lab, and then maybe if I'm lucky I'll be able to get out early and have some free time/work on cosplay. If I'm not lucky, I'll probably go home and play KotOR2/crash. Note that playing KotOR2 currently comes before everything else.

3/26 Sat: Open day. Probably going to be doing a combination of cosplay work and homework, and possibly hang out with the dear Mel if her parents let her come down. I will most likely have finished KotOR2 by now, and will have started a new game, wherein I play nice to Bao-Dur, get lots of influence with him, and then go horribly dark side. Because in addition to the nice black marks he gets on his face, he gets a little bit of red too. (THEY LOVE ME! THEY SERIOUSLY DO! *squee*)

3/27 Sun: My day of DOOOOOM. Doing all the work I should have done for the rest of the week. *hides* Eeeeep. Cosplay work has to get finished, or I am SO FUCKED. SO FUCKED. o____o *panic panic*

...and that's my spring break in a nutshell.
Those of you with Livejournals should be able to view my phone number. It's a good idea to check it just in case, because I changed cell phone numbers after I got back from Japan last summer. Make sure you've got my new number. ^_^ Call me if you want to hang, especially in NYC.

Anybody have one spare ticket to the Pillows on Monday?
My friend could really use one.

Avast!

| | Comments (8)

As of today, I am well on my way to graduation. I've passed my swim test, I've done all my PE points, and I just have to pass 9.18 and I'll have a B.S. degree in Brain and Cognitive Sciences from MIT.

Oh right, well, I gotta wait until June too, but that's the easy part. *laughs*

I'll actually really miss ice skating. The ice is going down on Saturday. ;__; I can now do forward and backward crossovers, and I'm really going to miss the ice after it's taken down. ._. Awwwww. *sighs* I was even doing really well in the relay race despite landing on my right knee in the first leg of it. ^^;; *sweatdrops* Stupid toe pick. :/

Anyhoos, there's a Pirate Party at Avatrix's house on Saturday, which means hey! I'm going to be there as Luffy! XD *laughs* Cause there's nothing better than drinking and being Luffy at the same time.

If any of you are at a loss for pirate ideas, just wear an eyepatch and a bandana and claim you're a butt pirate. And make sure you use the words "anal pillage" once in a while.

Yar.

Star Wars ramblings

| | Comments (8)

Destra got the trilogy boxed set for her birthday, so she's going to be showing one a night until tomorrow. Tonight's Empire, which I guess is one of those movies that you either love or hate. I'm not sure what I think of Empire anymore, as I watched parts of A New Hope yesterday and somehow it seemed much cheesier than I remember.

But then again, the new Star Wars are pretty cheese-tacular too, so I'm not sure whether I should laugh, cry, or go back to playing KotOR. Cause whoever did the script writing for BioWare and Obsidian sure as hell wasn't named George Lucas. Points for you, not!George-Lucas!

Anyways, whoever did the character designs for KotOR2 gets mad props because my little fangirl heart, and it's little core of Darth Maul fanness are pleased by the combinations of Bao-Dur Influence + Dark Side. That is SCORE. WAY THE FUCK SCORE. *happy dance happy dance happy dance* I am loved. How I wish the DMEB and Sith Academy (moreso Sith Academy, because that's where all the Obi/Maul fans went after DMEB and it's straightness cast us out) were still alive.

And I'm horribly sleepy right now because I stayed up all night playing...*gasp* KotOR2. :3

I will forever be amused that it was Star Wars, not Star Trek that made me a slash fan. Am I the only one who sees the irony?

Meme!

| | Comments (13)

It's a meme from Skuld! *gasp*

(By the 'meme' is pronounced 'meem,' because it's a derivative of 'mimeme.' It was also a term coined by the author of The Selfish Gene.)

Anyways, this is ganked from Claudia.

1. Choose seven (7) different actors
2. For each, list three (3) films they were in
3. Post and let people guess which actor
4. No cheating!

====

1. Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Mystery Men, Blow
2. La Ley del deseo (The Law of Desire), Desperado, Evita
3. High Fidelity, Traffic, Ocean's Twelve
4. The Man in the Iron Mask, Cyrano de Bergerac, Jean de Flourette
5. The Birdcage, Mystery Men, Grosse Pointe Blank
6. The Professional, Mars Attacks!, Star Wars I: The Phantom Menace
7. Twister, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, The Princess Bride

Guess away my friends. :3

I just got spam in my Movable Type comments from "peeing women." Oh intarnuts, how I love you when you give me links to water sports. Do me a favor and throw some water polo in there next time.

I'm in a particularly LiveJournal-hating mood at the moment, much to my dismay. I think it's because I'm sitting here checking my friends list, and seeing a lot of LAMEASS posts on my LJ communities. Some better than others, but at the moment Death Note is the worst.

Okay, Death Note is wildly popular at the moment. That's great. I like Death Note. I think Death Note is wonderfully executed, wonderfully drawn, and wonderfully written. I'm glad Death Note is widely appreciated, because it's nice to know that I'm not the only on crack about some of the really good series out there. (hint: you guys should start reading/watching One Piece and Gungrave before I KEEL YOU GOOD.)

The problem inherent in things like large fandoms is that large fandoms inevitably draw large amounts of people. Assuming that 99.9% of the world is stupid and assuming that 99.89% of anime fans are stupid, that means that in any given fandom, I'll probably run into 99.89% percent stupid people. That's perfectly fine for small fandoms, as I can take stupidity in small numbers. It's when I get into big fandoms that I really get annoyed. I HATE IT when people go on LJ Comms and post newbie introduction posts like, "hey guyz, lol, i just read daeth note and I tink its teh coolest evar! L is so kewl. plz be nice to me i'm a stoopid n00b. baibai." I can't fucking stand it. NOBODY GIVES A FLYING FUCK if you just read Death Note, and nobody cares about your STUPID NEWBIE POST. Most pointless post ever. If you've got something to say on the LJ comm, at least make it intelligent.

Another problem I have with people on the internet is that they think they're smarter than they really are. Granted, I probably think I'm smarter than I really am, but nobody's really going to argue with me because I can say, "I'm getting a B.S. from the Massa-fucking-chusetts Institute of Technology. Go fuck yourself." and most of the time (let's say...oh...75%? which is a lot higher than the norm of 10%) I think about my posts before I make them. I also DO SOME RESEARCH. I can't stand the Death Note comm because everybody on there thinks they're a Death Note expert, and we have wild theories running around on why L is so fidgety, and ZOMG! This obviously means he's got autism! Let me post this theory around the entire interbutt!

I will not go into the details here of why L actually isn't autistic (it has to do with the fact that he's missing the most obvious symptoms of autism). That's besides the point. (Ada recently pointed out to me that L probably has a hyperthyroidism, which if anybody knows anything about endocrinology, is actually very likely; though that says nothing about his behavior.) The point is, DO YOUR FUCKING RESEARCH before you put on your "I am so S-M-R-T" hat. Thank you.

Lastly, there is someone on the DN comm that draws my ire especially because she keeps on posting, "ZOMG, this person looks like L, let me show you pictures!" and all you're seeing is some Asian dude with black hair and a "deer in the headlights" look. Seriously, this isn't anything special. You could probably get anybody with black hair to look like L if you just told them to stare at you really hard. And guess what... NOBODY CARES! So stop post whoring.

To all the people who are posting funnies on the DN comm, thank you. You brighten up my day. I can't stand people who take themselves too seriously. It makes me want to photoshop pictures of L and Raito going, "AAAAIIIIIIRRRRRRR" or "KILL IT WITH DEATH NOTE!"*

So remember kids, the moral of this rather vitriolic rant is:

"Everytime you post on death_note, Kira kills a kitten. Please, think of the kittens.

Now I retreat in the haven of pulp-culture awesomeness known simply as /b/.

* - memes in /b/. the "AIIIIRRRR" meme is a joking reference to Ahnold's scene in "Total Recall" where his eyes bug out as he's gasping for "AAAAIIIIIRRR!" The "Kill it with _____" meme was originally started by the anti-furry clan of /b/ in retaliation to Furry Friday. "KILL IT WITH FIRE" was the original, and now people have been inserting various amusing nouns in place of fire, most recently "boomstick."

How about some pi?

Today is Pi day! Huzzah!

Why is that so? It's 3/14 today, of course. ^_^

DAMMIT!
I fucked up in KotOR2 and now I can't get HK-47.
FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK.

FUCK!

[EDIT] The wonderful clone gave me some kickass cheats so I can get HK again. Huzzah. ;____; My life is once again Dark Side Sunshine.

Constancy is overrated

| | Comments (14)

Just came back from Porter Square and watching Constantine...
Umm...don't expect a full review here, because I think it'll make me bitter over the 2 and half hours and the $10.25 I spent on it.

If you haven't watched Constantine yet, and you are of a mind to go see it, please keep in mind the following:

- Don't expect too much out of Keanu Reeves. He is Keanu Reeves, after all.
- Bring friends. Loud ones.
- Pre-game, and bring beer. Lots of beer or other beverages which will cause inebriation.

And remember kids, /b is for Bruce Campbell.

Happy Birthday to Cocoa! I can't make it to her party today because friends from out of state are coming in, but I shall send her her present if I ever get my non-lameness above 10%.

I finally started reworking on my Legato costume last night. I actually got about 1/4 through. It's nice to have the pattern already pre-worked out, so I can just cut and sew, and repeat that a couple of times. Of course, what's going to give me hell later on is the SHOULDER OF DOOM! (aaaarrrrggghhhhh!) but hey, that's later which means I still have time to procrastinate, hang out with friends, and play KotOR2.

Good luck to my lovely Mel, she's got more swimming competitions this weekend. :3 I'm sure she'll kick lots of ass, so next weekend we can celebrate her victory... in my bed. XD And at Avatrix's party. (Body shots and Kings, HO!)

Congrats to Lythe who got accepted into Southwestern. I hope she also gets into Northwestern and Duke, or wherever else she wants to go. ^_^ Congrats, girl! *hugs* Go Asian lesbians. XD

Despite the fact it's cold, rainy, and snow right now, life is surprisingly good. :3 Gonna hit Porter Square with Leah and Mikhail soon! Yay for Japanese food. :3 I love how sometimes I feel there's nothing wrong in my life. ^_^

>_> I have a make a videogame demo by the end of the term.
I have about ...oh... 8 weeks?

Well, at least I'm in a team so I don't actually have to do any programming myself, but let me rephrase:

my group and I have to make a playable demo of a tactical RPG by the end of the term.

*hurk*

And why am I so tired even after having almost 7 hours of sleep?! >_< WHY? WHY? Where have the days gone when I was wide awake off of 5 and a half hours? *head bang*

It's the weekend! Holy shit, finally. *falls over* :x

Malima is a sweetie and put her television in my room, so that once more I may now play videogames at my leisure. ^_^ Huzzah, she's the coolest GRT ever. :3

new layout!

New layout. ^_^ I've spent almost all night working on this. @_@ Blargh, now I'm dead and beat and I still have homework to do.

Death Note fans will appreciate.

Decisions, decisions

| | Comments (8)

I wish it was spring, so that my lovely Mel and I could go for a romp in the Fens in Raito and L costume, and I could spend the next two weeks trying to wash grass stains out of L's shirt. XD Why does he wear a white shirt? =_= I know not. I figured L would be smart enough to know that he ought to wear black shirts, because 1) black shirts never get dirty, and 2) the more you wear them, the blacker they get. (These two rules also apply to black socks.) Anyways, I leave you with that amusing thought.

It's still fucking cold here in Boston, which really miffs me. :/ I have learned to absolutely despise Boston weather, because THERE IS NO SPRING. It comes very, very late, and only lasts about 3 weeks at best before Boston is suddenly launched into a very, very hot summer. Lucky me, I'll be escaping to California come fall. Unfortunately, I don't know where in California I'll be yet.

Believe it or not, I'm actually thinking of going to UCLA instead of UCSF for grad school, despite the fact that UCSF has "the best neuroscience program in the nation" and it used to be my first choice school. Things change a lot after you visit schools and talk to professors, I think.

I'm seriously considering UCLA because it has more faculty in my field. More young faculty, even. Unlike UCSF which is strictly a "Health Sciences School" (that is, they only have a bio/neuro grad school, a med school, a dental school, and a nursing school), UCLA is both a graduate and undergraduate institution that will offer me the chance to take any classes in other departments (like the Anthropology department or the LGBT Studies department) that I want to take without having to haul my ass across something called the Bay Bridge to get there.

As much as everybody detests LA, I might actually end up there because I feel UCLA fits me better as a school. Now I just have to get my mother to stop bitching at me about this decision, which I'm still about 25% waffling on.

Oh, who am I kidding? My heart's set on UCLA, I just need to find better reasons to shut my mom up. ^^;; Sorry guys, no Yaoi Con. :/ But hey...who knows where I'm doing my post doc? ^^;;;

Hello San Francisco

I just got a call from the director of the UCSF Neuroscience program...and I'm in.

HOLY CRAP, I got into UCSF. o________o
...damn! My first choice school! ROCKIN'! XD

Boston weather sucks

It's raining! ARGH! >____< I hate the rain, especially when I have to walk around in Boston in it without an umbrella. Somehow it just never occured to me as I was walking out the door today that it would be a good idea to bring one even though the ground looked rather wet and it smelled of fresh rain. I'll explain away this stunning display of stupidity by saying that I got less than 6.5 hours of sleep last night, and that it was before noon, so therefore my brain was still in the 'off' position.

Now it's pouring outside...and damn, I do not want to go outside in order to procure my food. Not only is it raining buckets right now, it's going to turn into snow later in the afternoon and evening. It's also going to be snowing over the weekend, and this just brings me to hate Boston so much more than I already do.

I hate Boston weather. I don't understand how the pilgrims ever decided to stay in Massachusetts when three fourths of their population died the first winter. It was mid-60's and sunny in San Francisco, and Boston's still hovering in the indecisive 20-40 degree wintery stretch. Fuck you Boston, fuck you.

All of this acidic ranting is prompted by my aching stomach (it's been so long since I've eaten! ;_;) and the fact that senioritis has set in so much that I can't decide whether I just want to be out, whether I want to stay here and cuddle my darling Mel every day of the week, or whether I just want to screw this graduating thing and veg for the rest of my life.

...Maybe I'm just angry because it's not noon yet, I'm still yawning, my eyes are watery from my tiredness, and I just read a whole shitload of Something Awful and Maddox.

I need a banana.

This banana for you

Do you want a banana?

This banana for you!

(click on it, I swear you won't regret it.)

{EDIT} The band who did the song is called Tally Hall, and they're apparently a bunch of UMich students. I've totally fallen in love with their awesome music. o_o I feel so refreshed. I need a banana...like L.

I've noticed a progressive trend in my graduate student interview experiences.

UCLA was fun. The faculty were really nice to us, and they took us to fun bars for orientation and fancy restaurants. It was overall very, "Yay!"

UPenn was amazing. Mikey Nusbaum is the nicest guy ever, and made all us recruits feel very much at home. They even held a party for us, with Beirut and Flip Cup, and I passed out after Flip Cup because I was that drunk. It was awesome.

I was originally afraid that UCSF was going to hate me, and that they were going to be hardasses, but it turns out the rumors are completely untrue. Everybody was really chill and very intelligent, and overall the atmosphere was just wonderful. Not only was I drunk on Saturday night from too much sangria, I got high too, because one of the recruits bought an eigth of weed. Man, the interviews just got better and better.

I really hope I get into UCSF, they were my first choice after all...but I dunno...it'll still be a tough call between UCLA and UCSF. It's something I'll have to discuss with my parents, and with my girlfriend. I know I'd be happy at both places, and I know there's some realities I'm not yet prepared to face yet. There are days I wish would never come. For example:

1) March 17th: I have to decide before this date whether or not I'm going to Japan this summer, and when I want to go. It looks very likely so far that I'll be joining the Fujita lab at Osaka University again.

2) April 15th: The decision is due. Maybe UCSF will make the choice easy for me, we'll see.

3) The summer: I don't even want to think about it. Japan will be fun, but Japan all alone again will not be. ;___;

4) The fall: A new chapter of my life. Moving is blah, not to mention having to adjust to a new city, make new friends, fall into a new pattern of life. It'll be tough.

Okay, I'll stop being so depressed. ^_^ *sweatdrops* I'll just say as a closing statement, that I hope Kyle made it all the way back to Brown with his weed, because man, it would suck if he got busted. :/

Gone for the weekend

I'll be gone for the weekend again, as this time it's UCSF and the toughest of all my interviews. I think my apathy has hit an all-time high because I actually don't care about the fact that UCSF intimidates me horribly and will probably hate me. :/ I'm already into UCLA, and I have the feeling that's where I'm going to go, even if UCSF does decide they want me. I'd need a really fucking good reason not to go to UCLA, and LA hasn't cut it so far. XD

I'll be back in Boston Sunday evening (after spending the ENTIRE FUCKING DAY on the plane...gah! I hate flying west to east), and after that I'll probably be able to make the decision on whether or not I'll be going to LA for the next 5 or 6 years of my life. ^_^ Until then, I will try my damndest to get my ass to Japan Town, buy manga at Kinokuniya, and eat yummy Japanese food. :x Mmm mmm...it's either San Fran or touring Napa Valley on Saturday, and I'm seriously torn. XD

Dear Idiots on my LJ Comms,

STFU!

Your idiotic ramblings about Gankutsutou/FMA crossovers should be discussed in the private realm with your private idiotic friends, and not with the general populus who: 1) doesn't give a damn, and 2) doesn't give a damn about YOUR PUERILE SPECULATIONS!

I will be constructing a shitlist very, very soon. PRAY you don't show up on it. It will NOT be pretty. *shakes angry fist*

:/ Ugh, I shouldn't be so bitchy when it's only halfway through the week.
Okay, back home where I can go back to work.

Love,
Skuld

YOU FUCKERS WILL DIE!

Somebody stole the password to my MIT Athena account.
FUCKER! Not only am I going to kill you slowly *steals Raito's Death Note* I am going to break your arms and legs personally. *shakes fist*

Okay, so I don't think anything happened, but it was mighty annoying to have to reset my password and deal with it.

Your ass is mine, hax0r.

>_<

On bright and happy news...I pimped Riidi Death Note and he just gobbled it up and finished it off. To those of you who have been pimped Death Note and still haven't read it...you're missing out big time. :/

SNOW! .... is evil!

I have worst worth ethic in the entire universe. I guess it's not my fault when I come back home and Destra's not working, and Alex/Riidi and Ducky are also over. Oh well, it's just reading anyway. I'll kill myself in May catching up with work, since I"m too lazy to do it now. :/ I'll use grad interviews as an excuse. XD

It snowed about 10 inches last night, I think. :/ Boo on snow. Malima wants to go sledding again tonight, and I think that's an awesome idea...except for the fact that I'll probably get sick again, and I really don't want that to happen to me so close to my UCSF interview. >_< I just don't think this is the year for snow for me, since snow is was made me horribly ill at the end of January. And I was lucky then because there was no school. @_@

So apparently The Pillows are playing up in New York City on Monday March 21st. Who's going with me? I'm already going with Mikhail, so you other people better start signing up soon. ^_^ The Pillows are the people who did the awesome rock music for FLCL. :3 Y'all should definitely come and see them play. Screw ACen, we can get them right here on the east coast. :x
