Fracking Fragged

Spent the evening with Rhole. Our love is so...purikura or something. XD

Anyways, thanks very much to Avatrix again, I have now seen the most recent episode of Battlestar Galactica.

Cut for thoughts. Spoilers up until said episode.

I hope I'm not the only one who thinks that Six's talks about "humanity's true nature" are getting a little heavy-handed. Clubbing us over the head much, Six? Oh well, it's for the new and uninitiated (and the stupid) so I guess I can deal. The screenwriting is also getting a little more heavy-handed, so I hope it doesn't keep going downhill like that. :/ Nevertheless, Baltar becoming a man by killing another fellow human (instead of displaying bravery or courage, as usually expected) is a nice touch.

I think I like the addition of 'the baby' as humanity's salvation. I am tempted to draw a few parallels to Jesus Christ (because it seems that the Cylon God is the most similar to the Christian God, at least of the old testament), but I'll try not to. I still am having a hard time believing that some sort of Six is going to give birth to this child, as is currently being implied. I still believe it is Caprica!Boomer and Helo's baby, conceived out of love. And God is love. She will be raised and taught by Baltar and Baltar's Six, thus making her 'their' child.

I don't think that BSG will ever find Earth, I don't think Earth exists in the BSG universe. I don't think the point of BSG is to find Earth, because it's the journey that matters, and not the end. The point of BSG is the remaking of humankind through the lessons they learn and the hardships they endure on the way to finding what they are seeking.

ZhangoSqu and I spent a couple of minutes arguing with each other about the basic nature of BSG, will the humans become more Cylon? Will the Cylons become more human? I think it's a little bit of both. A blending of the two to create the best of both worlds, so to speak. Nevertheless, I am still a little skeptical of my own thoughts. I don't think I can even begin to divine what Ron Moore has in store for us.

There seems to be some sort of religious clash going on here, as most of the citizens of the Colonies believe in the Lords of Kobol, who seem implied not to be the One God. Thus, are the Holy Scriptures a lie? Are President Roslin's visions merely coincidental? Or are the tools originally created by God to help guide them?

BSG is in my opinion, still about finding God, finding faith, finding your way amidst chaos, despair, and violence. About rising above human nature. So far we have seen precious little of that, so I hope there's more.

Also something you to ponder, since Avatrix mentioned it the other day: Roslin's reaction to Ellen Tigh's presence during Kamala Extract withdrawal--the ringing in her ears--a sign that Ellen is a Cylon and that Roslin can sense them? Or red herring?
