The Cylons put a chip in my brain. Either that, or I may just be going crazy. Did you hear the Cylons look like us now? Don't ask me why they just made me watch the Battlestar Galactica miniseries again (I think that was the fourth time), or why I can't stop playing Dynasty Warriors and obsessing over the kingdom of Wei and how it was full of badasses.
OHMYGOD GET OUT OF MY HEAD HOT BLONDE WOMAN!
(more like "one-eyed Chinese dude" ¬_¬ *sweatdrop* I'd be much more sane were it Number Six.)
And in answer to Cocoa's question about my cosplay plans for AX 06 (if I get to go at all, the big catch is that if I go to Japan I won't get to go to Anime Expo or Otakon) I probably won't have the time to do a decent and convincing Zack because I'll be spending all of my time when I'm not studying or in lab on this.
I don't even want to think about how I'm going to do the scimitar. Or the gauntlets. Or you know...THE ARMOR. Cosplay? What is this cosplay thing. I am a graduate student and I may go to Japan. *denialdenialdenial*
You know, taking another trip to Japan this year so I can be more lazy (Japan is an arguable escape route on the subject of laziness) is starting to sound pretty damn good. Yeah, I'll be missing summer anime conventions for three years in a row. (I sniffle at the awesome memories of Otakon.) But attending Natsukomi (summer comiket) for three years in a row would totally make up for that. And you know, so would spending nights in mangakissa and in karaoke parlors. I still have regrets! Things I didn't do on my second trip to Japan this year! Namely, attend a rock concert, stay at a love hotel, and visit Hokkaido.
But I do promise that if Japan decides that three times is too many times to have Skuld back in the country, I'll make it out either Anime Expo or Otakon, or both. With a GOOD Xiahou Dun costume. As good as all those what all of those hot Japanese chicks have. o_o
(Is it odd that I think beards look better on girls? ¬_¬)
Actually, said chicks are a good reason to go back to Japan yet again... >_> *cough* Yes, everything eventually goes back me hankering for Japan. And girls. And girls who like to dress up as dead Chinese warriors.
I sound so fucking crazy on my own journal. (STALKERS STAY AWAY.)
Anyways, classes start tomorrow at 10am. I'm in a bit of a financial pinch because books are going to be hella expensive this term, I have to pay rent on Saturday, and the program hasn't gotten me my goddamn fellowship money yet because somebody along the chain was stupid and lost the paperwork and/or the money.
WHY DOES THIS ALWAYS HAPPEN TO ME? *full of sobbing*
My life hates me. :/ In every way...and I think I just publically embarassed myself again.

You suck :P I know who isn't going to be getting to see all my Cloud/Seph cosplay photos XD
if you withhold cosplay photos from me, I'm going to go over there and personally wrest them from your evil withholdy grasp. :D
But you practically promised to do Auron for me and Amberlee XD; You h0r.
Oh yeah, I did do that, huh.
Oh crap I went and chucked my costume in the bin during the move.
...
...
Boy am I fucked.
And hey, at least I never promised to do Zack for you. :p
Hey. So Classes start tomorrow, eh? well good luck and... you want to cosplay as Xiahou Dun?! Goddamit why do you have to be in L.A.? I could've so used you in my doc (yeah, I'm doinng the cosplay doc I think...)
Anyways, good luck. I know money at the beginning of the semester can be tight (NYU FIn Aid/Bursar are a bunch of dicks)
I may be of help with your armor issues. Let me introduce you to the SW fanom cosplay friend: SINTRA
Sintra is a PVC foam composit material that comes in 4x8 sheets and can be found at your local plastic supply or sign supply place. It comes in loads of colors, takes paint easily (as it is plastic), and becomes plyable at the low temp of boiling water.
Boba Fett cosplayers live by this stuff. You make a cardboard form of the shape you want (IE of your armor piece the size you need it to fit you) use it as both a cutout template and as your "mold." Sintra cuts easily with the use of a dremmel (get the plug in type for 50 bucks and not a cordless because you really need the extra power to prevent edge chips) and a sanding drum. Boil a huge pot of water on the stove and, once at temprature, dip in the piece. It will drop and bend like a cooked pasta noodle. Drape it over your form then move it to the sink and run cold water over the top. The cold shocks the material into hardening and it remains whatever shape you've chosen!
I bought a sheet of white 1/8 inch thick sintra at the local plastics place here in town along with special plastic bond glue for under 30 bucks. A can of the new Krylon plastic spray paint runs about 3.50 and will cover the stuff nicely.
If you'd like loads more detail about the stuff just google:

^_^
Yes, I know, I'm a total pusher. I will be working with my stuff over the next few weeks to make new Bail Organa gauntlets. I'll let you know if it's as easy to use as they say!
I've heard of things like friendly plastic, but this Sintra stuff sounds a little better, especially since it comes in large-ish sorts of sheets.
Thanks so much for the advice, Mommy! I'll definitely look into it! :3 *lots of hugs*
>>well good luck and... you want to cosplay as Xiahou Dun?! Goddamit why do you have to be in L.A.?
The answer is that L.A. is warm and happy, unlike back east coast. Granted, L.A. also sucks in some ways, but... >_>
I think I should be glad I'm not in your doc, cause then I'd feel horribly freakish and embarassed. You know, even more so than usual because it's Xiahou Dun I'm cosplaying as, after all. (Ask me about why later. I still haven't quite put my finger on it yet.)
