Lonely driver Skuld

Finished Initial D first stage. Whoever directed the final two episodes needs to be hit over the head, cause it was nowhere as exciting as the Impact Blue Usui race. :( Come on, it was Takahashi Ryosuke and my energy level was like...flatlined. Even when Takumi overtook him with the drift exit gutter grabbing trick.

...and my copy of Second Stage only has the English audio or the Japanese audio, with no subs at all. NOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Why does my life hate me so?

When I grow up

| | Comments (0)

Wow, breaking up with Ben totally shot my concentration. I guess I'm not sleeping tonight cause I have so much work to get done. =___= Anyways...here's something funny that happened today during Jose's presentation.

Jose's presentation has a picture of Optimus Prime on it.

Jose: ...well, I have a picture of a Transformer on here. The story is that when I was kid, we had a day at school where we could show and tell what we wanted to be when we grow up. I told everybody I wanted to grow up and be Optimus Prime, the leader of the Autobots...and they all laughed at me.

Jose wins the day. I want to be Optimus Prime too.

Dear World,

Apple sucks

| | Comments (0)

Finally calling Apple so I can get poor Rocketbilly (my iPod shuffle) fixed, and I think I've been on the phone for about half an hour, 20 minutes of which has been me on hold. :( Customer Support blows! At least the people being nice to me.

Poor Rocketbilly! He's been all sad and broken for over two weeks now! I should've gotten him fixed before heading off to SfN, cause then maybe the stupid website wouldn't protest at me and tell me that my warranty is gone, when it is in fact NOT.

Note to self: STOP PUNTING.

Ha.

Next time I get an MP3 player, it is SOOOOO not going to be an iPod. I hate Apple now almost as much as I hate Microsoft.

TOOL? PUNT!

Sometimes there's great cosplay...and then there's cosplay that's so good you're inspired to just quit because you know you're not all that. Check out these Gundam SEED cosplayers from China. Gah. Gah. Gah. I think if they ever did Three Kingdoms, I'd just give up on existence entirely.

Maybe I can pull on some Chinese genes and see if they can transcribe some awesome for me. (Hyuk hyuk hyuk, lame genetics references.)

You might not be able to believe it, but I am writing fanfiction again. Should've been writing pr0n for the clone, but I got sucked into HP/DM again, which means Destra might get her fic sometime soon. *gasp* Of course, I'm rewriting the thing because I stopped 'cause I didn't like what I had in the first place... :3

There are so many fics I need to pick back up, it's ridiculous. It's approaching finals time too...and you know what that means.

IT'S TIME TO PUNT.

My life: AH SHIT

| | Comments (0)

I just got back from Goblet of Fire...
and have the burning need to read some Harry/Draco to satisfy the gratuitious lack of it in GOF. :(

Maybe I'll write some too.

...I just remembered I promised to translate some HP doujinshi for the James/Severus list. Like...2 months ago.

AH SHIT.

EDIT: Holy shit, that was Ralph Fiennes?! o______O;;

bemoaning my love live

| | Comments (0)

Why is it that the two guys I like the most are either taken or live far away from me...or both? *bangs head against a wall*

I think of the untroubled, stable relationship I could be having and I go back to head banging again.

Certifiably insane

| | Comments (0)

Once in a while I go on insane little rants. I have no idea why these sudden moments of craziness hit me, but I imagine it must be something similiar to random bouts of epilepsy or something. :3

It'll keep life interesting when I go back years later and read my entries. Also helps drive away those who might be sane. :( Keep your normalcy cooties away from me, dude.

EW.

anyways, without much further ado...

I AM TOTALLY TOTALLY TOTALLY TOTALLY CRAZY.
I blame the fact that's like...9am on a Satuday and I am awake. I think the last time I did something like this (that is, get up on a weekend in the single digit morning hours) aside from travel purposes was back in high school when I was part of the debate team. God, that takes me back.

Anyways, I AM STILL CRAZY!! *waves hands about wildly in the air* Mostly because there was a huge Three Kingdoms related (read: Dynasty Warriors) convention on the 23rd in Japan, and where there are conventions there are cosplayers. And where there are Three Kingdoms cosplayers, there are my TWO FAVORITE JAPANESE COSPLAYERS EVARRRRRRRR.

Read: Ryuto's new Dynasty Warriors 5 version of Xiahou Dun and Kisaki's new Cao Cao costume. Doth I break into orgasms? I DO I DO I DO I DO I DO. 'cept all that's posted for pictures so far are teasers. Little cookies. None of the meat. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! That's so cruel!!!

But at the same time...so hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot!

For Christmas, I have three wishes:

1) Neither of said cosplayers finds my crazy blogness here *scrambles to post innocuous, un-insane material*
2) If said cosplayers find my crazy blogness, I pray for the usual Japanese inability to properly decode the letters of the English language.
or 3) Maybe they'll think I'm cool because I speak Chinese, Japanese, and English SIMULTANEOUSLY! (This option is only available to those with triple or dual-track audio systems.)

I think I might throw in 4) I wish that I will not be struck with chronic, clinical laziness when it comes to cosplay this year. I'll get Xiahou Dun done in 2006. You guys just watch. (Might require some serious time-lapse photography.) It'll be awesome.

It's chilly here in my room in Los Angeles right now (I just got back from the family friend's place), so I think I'll jump back into bed because it's atrocious of me to be up at this hour (thoroughly unmoral of me, I tell you) and because I have goosebumps all over from the coldness. :( Yup, just jump into bed.

And like...try my best not to fap. Cause then I can't claim moral superiority over other stalky types.

You know, I'm glad I have a blog on which I can get out my craziness because god knows nobody wants a call at 9am with me ranting about how much so-and-so cosplaying foobar is so fucking hot. I think if I were unable to get out my crazygasms I'd've exploded somewhere back at MIT along the way.

MUST NOT FAP. MUST NOT FAP.

POST THE PICTURES ALREADY GODDAMMIT!!!! GAAAAAAAAAAH.

Black Friday

| | Comments (0)

I went to Victoria's Secret today, and they didn't have the Xiahou Dun underwear I wanted in my size. :(

Those bastards. I might have to order it.

Also picked up some eyeshadow (nice blue-ish color I think would look good on me in costume) and some manga. :) Not to mention a Boondocks Saint shirt at Hot Topic.

I am such a merchandising whore.

V-TEC just kicked in, yo!

Sometimes I wonder if the I'm the only person in the entire world who thinks Initial D is actually cool.

Then I remember the guy who actually introduced me to it, and then I realize there are at least two.

God bless Christian who introduced me to it. :3

Thanksgiving

Going to a family friend's place for Thanksgiving, so I might not be around to blog, since I have to steal wireless from their neighbors at dangerously low connectivity. ^^;;

If I'm not around later this weekend, Happy Thanksgiving to all my friends. :3 And give me a call on my cell. ^_^

I KNEW IT!

Tally Hall is playing in Boston and NYC (and along the entire east coast) and I'm not there anymore.

Just my luck.

My life hates me.

Also, I yelled at Ben today. Sometimes he makes me the happiest person in the world. Othertimes, I want to slam him against a wall, shake him hard (hopefully change will come out or something) and then punch him a couple of times for being the way he is.

I might pull an all-nighter tonight, I will be very unhappy.

That is all.

Linguists will love this

I am suddenly reminded of a conversation I had with the clone on AIM about his friend Jason :

Ed: Jason likes cosplaying girls.
Skuld: ...
Ed: --I mean, he likes girls who cosplay.

Ode to Dew

| | Comments (0)

Oh Mountain Dew,
where would I be were it not for you
giving me energy as I review
for a test in two days that I hope to sail through.

Okay, I suck at rhyming at 2am. But then again, I think I always have sucked at rhymes, period.

Test on Tuesday. Final draft of Japanese paper due on Wednesday. Lab due on Wednesday. UGH.

I finally got my speakers. Dear god, it was complicated. The first time I tried to order them from New Egg, there was massive failure for me not being home during regular business hours. I had to call UPS and New Egg, and in the end they weren't able to redeliver.

The second time I figured I'd order it on Tuesday, so it'd get here on Thursday (the only day I'm home). New Egg is basically stationed in California, and this time there was massive failing again because they shipped all the way from Tennesee and my package didn't get here until Monday, which was funny because by then I was at the Society for Neuroscience conference and wasn't due home until late Wednesday night. I called UPS up from the conference, had them deliver it on Thursday to me.

And instead of delivering it to me, they returned it to the shipper.

THOSE BASTARDS.

So yesterday I finally just plain fucking broke down and bought them from Best Buy. For $30 more but the peace of mind of actually finally having decent speakers is worth it.

Note that this entire thing would never have happened if UPS hadn't broken my speakers in the first place when shipping them. :(

And now I think my center channel is busted. Not sure. *sigh*

I still love One Piece

| | Comments (0)

Was going to blog more about The Ben Chronicles, but decided not to. Too depressing for me, yo. One Piece never fails to cheer me up. Luffy never fails to inspire me. So instead of seeking more advice, I decided I'd read the latest two chapters of One Piece, 389 and 390. This is one of those rare moments when I go, "Wow, One Piece has angst."

And then I turn the page, and Luffy just cancels it all out by being AWESOME.

I don't think I can ever stress enough how much I want to be Luffy. ...and how much I love Eiichiro Oda two-page spreads. I think I almost cried. I think I'm definitely going to cry sometime in this arc. Just like how I cried in Skypeia, Alabasta, and the Drum arcs.

俺は、海賊王になる男だ!

Can you see me now?

Back home in LA finally. I'm so exhausted. Plane flights just take a great deal out of me, even though all I'm doing in the plane is sleeping. Ugh, planes blow. Especially when you're flying coach. That free business-class upgrade I got from ANA from Tokyo to LA spoiled me for life. :p

Anyways, apparently I am incredibly predictable. I would like to think I'm not, but I've hardly known Ben a week and it seems like he's knows me really well. :p

Skuld: *feeling Ben's beard* :D Can I watch you shave sometime?
Ben: :3 You're going to be so jealous.

More on Ben later, I suppose. It's one complicated hell of a ride.

And I'd just like to take a moment aside to thank everybody who took time out of their day to read my friends-locked Livejournal entry, and call me, text message me, or leave a long comment. Thank you, thank you, thank you so much. Some of you guys I barely even know, and yet you took time out to read and offer your views. For that I am truly grateful, and it means a whole hella lot to me.

Some of you guys have told me to get myself out of this relationship, and now I know what pitfalls I should be avoiding. Some of you guys have told me to give this relationship a chance, and now I know what I should be doing. Thank you. I don't think I would've made it through the tough parts of these past couple of days if it weren't for you guys. You are all such wonderful people, and I am so glad you're my friends and you care. *hugs*

cons are weird

| | Comments (2)

The conference is weird. So I'm at a convention center...and for the first time people I don't know are walking around, and I'm not in costume. :p WTF is up with this shit?

Actually, Society for Neuroscience is a lot of fun. :3 We take up the entire convention center. Not kidding you. About 35,000 people from what I hear. Really have gotten close with Ben these past couple of days, aside from the times when we're sitting in different symposium rooms (he's into Learning/Memory/Synapse Formation shit, and I'm a straight Spinal Cord/Neural Repair/Regeneration kid) we've been hanging out together almost exclusively. ~<3

Two more days of SfN, I'm really going to miss this thing when it's over. ;_; Cause it'll be back to the grind.

And apparently I am the most transparent person in the entire world. =____=;;

Skuld: You should grow out your beard some more. :D *touches it*
Ben: You just want a beard, don't you?
Skuld: o_O ...

I'm so transparent I'm surprised some people see me at all.

happy birthday

| | Comments (0)

I've been informed it's Roronoa Zoro's birthday today. How old is he? I think he's stuck forever somewhere in the vicinity of 19 years old (Yeah, I think he really is that young) because nobody in One Piece ages or angsts. :3

I'll create a special pile of my Zoro and Luffy plushies, so they can have a bangin' weekend while I'm away at the Society for Neuroscience meeting. 35,000 people, dude. Bigger than Otakon, about a third the size of Comiket. And unfortunately way less gay. :(

Catch you on the flip side!

Wanna know what's awesome?

| | Comments (0)

There are two awesome things I've stumbled across today, thanks to my awesome friends.

First, it seems that the longer they push back the Kingdom Hearts II release date, the awesomer it is. Steamboat Willy, Pirates of the Caribbean, and now Tron. How awesome is that? TOTALLY AWESOME!

Also, I've been kindly informed that somebody from my alma mater has conducted significant scientific experimentation upon the properties of tinfoil hats. It was found in the study that tinfoil hats in fact amplify certain radio bands the FCC has already reserved. It's all a conspiracy.

Anyhoos, I'm off to SfN until next Wednesday night. :3 If you're in the DC area and want to say 'hi,' or meet up with me at SfN, gimme a ring.

The date with Ben went surprisingly well. Granted, I spent about 90% of the time talking (as I usually do) but he didn't seem particularly turned off by anything I said (not even when I told him I enjoyed reading yaoi), which is always a plus on a first date. Granted, I did start talking about how I wanted to study Japanese culture as an anthropologist, so I may have inadvertently gave my interest in t3h gay an academic spin...instead of you know, telling him that I liked it at first cause it is t3h pr0n.

There's a lot more to Ben than meets the eye, which I am pleased to learn. He also seems to uphold a lot of the good old rules of chivalry, such as opening the door for me and stuff. He also refused to let me pay for dinner despite the fact that I'm the one who asked, which was very sweet of him. :3 I hope he doesn't insist very time, then I might have to sock him a good one.

We had good times talking and stuff, and I think I'm really interested in dating this guy a little bit more.

Anyways, hosed with Japanese work (ugh, having to make up all the work I'm missing because I'm going to SfN) so I'll catch you guys later ^_^

EDIT: I hope I'm not being webstalked. ¬_¬

a slap in the face

| | Comments (0)

My life hates my guts, I've decided. Or maybe just UPS does. This whole fiasco wouldn't be happening if UPS hadn't broken my computer speakers during shipping in the first place.

Anyways, the story is...I unpack my speakers when I first get to LA, guess what, they're broken. They fucked up the subwoofer. The other speakers still work but the subwoofer doesn't anymore, so I have no bass whatsoever. Since I had my package insured, I complain to UPS and file a claim cause they broke my shit. It takes about a month for them to pay me back for new speakers, and by this time it's about the end of October. I buy some nice Logitech 5.1 surround sound thingies off of NewEgg on Monday, and they end up shipping from California the very next day. Of course I'm in class all the time, so I can't pick anything up. I call UPS and they say they can't hold my package unless I call NewEgg first, because NewEgg has a special contract with them. UPS ends up holding my package in downtown LA instead of Santa Monica. I can't get to downtown LA, I don't have a car, and my roommates are unwilling to drive me, and UPS refuses to transfer my package from the LA branch to the Santa Monica branch. THOSE FUCKING BASTARDS.

So time passes, and the speakers end up getting delivered back to NewEgg because I can't pick them up and I get a refund. Since I'm only around the house on Thursday mornings, I think to myself yesterday, "Okay, I'll order them Tuesday night so they get here on Wednesday or Thursday." So I just checked my order, instead of shipping from California as they did last time, they're now shipping from Tennesee. And the whole hilarity of the deal happens because now it's not going to get here by Thursday, and I'm not going to be around at all until Wednesday of next week because I'm going to the Society for Neuroscience (aka. SfN) conference in Washington D.C.

My only two hopes are:

1) The package will be extra fast so it'll get here on Friday morning before I leave for the airport at like...10:30am. =_= (Probability: highly unlikely)

2) The package will be extra slow, and Monday will end up being the first attempt, which means the Final Attempt for them to deliver will be next Thursday, and I'll be there by then. (Probability: highly unlikely)

Probability of me getting slapped in the face by life/UPS: near 100%.

*bangs head against wall*

The only remote shot I have is that it is rumored that wireless internet is free at the hotel we're staying at, which means I'll be able to track my package and call UPS and ask them to hold it at the Santa Monica branch for me to pick it up. Course, I'll have to run around the loops of calling NewEgg again. *rolls eyes*

My life hates me. :/

Maybe my mood will be better once I go on my date with Ben tonight. Or it could just keep getting worse from here.

I've been really kind of irritable today since I got my Neurophys test back. :/ Like I said before, didn't do as well as I thought I'd do on the test, so I'm kinda down about that. .___. I even got a 95% on my unfinished Japanese paper (they docked 5% for not having a conclusion. Dude, I didn't finish my paper, I can't have a conclusion! Otherwise I would've gotten 100% *sighs* But whatever), and that made my day awesome until I got my test back.

I hate it when I disappoint myself. :/

Anyways, for the short writing project this week about a famous Japanese person, I think I'm going either tackle Mishima Yukio or Kitano Takeshi. Most likely Mishima, for the high gay factor. If the USPS hadn't lost the Pink Mishima "Super Homosexual" shirt my friend Dave sent me (stupid post office, I think they lost the Xenogears that Roni sent me too. ;____; *cries*), I would totally wear it on Thursday to class.

I've decided that life hates me today, so I'm going to turn into bed early and hopefully life will like me a little better tomorrow.

I just bought Shadow of the Colossus.

HOLY SHIT IT IS TOTALLY AWESOME.

And I didn't do so well on my Neurophys midterm, because the professor tested more the "do you know this or not" side of things than the "can you solve this problem or not" side of things. :/ Boo. I hope I did better on the Japanese and the Neurobio exams. :(

I'm spamming y'all with entries tonight. Probably because I feel as if I need to make up for the rest of the weekend where I wasn't spamming you.

Read the One Piece 388 raw that came out today, and it is full of awesome! :D :D :D

ココロ:この戦いが終わったら、あの麦わら小僧の名は全世界に轟くよ

ルフィ:ロビ~~~~~ン!迎えに来たぞォ~~~!!!!

Luffy shouting at Robin at the top of his lungs? Luffy just beating the crap out of one of the CP9? Everybody else fighting to save Robin and Franky in Enies Lobby?

Awesome?! Yeah, awesome!

Missed out on Morrowind during my crazy "OMFG Japanese games are superior" run (more likely I missed out on it because I was playing Kingdom Hearts and busying myself with cosplay at the time), so I finally got around to buying the Game of the Year Edition today because EB sold their last copy of Shadow of the Colossus to the guy who was standing in front of me in line.

I LOSE.

Anyways, playing Morrowind because Oblivion is coming out soon eventually, and because it's a good game therefore I need to play it. Dunno how I'm going to juggle Morrowind, Dynasty Warriors, Shadow of the Colossus and school, but somehow things will work out. :3 Shadow of the Colossus might have to wait until Christmas time when I go home. Or I can vicariously play through my roommates by watching them. Evan needs to be converted to the wonderful world of videogames, because apparently all he knows how to play is Mario Tennis.

Tally Hall just announced on their page that they're planning to do a Northeastern US tour the middle weeks of December. I BET THEY'RE GOING TO BOSTON and I'm not going to be able to go.

Man, all the good shit happens in Boston after I leave. :( I am so unlucky like that.

I just cracked the cookie open, and it said this:

ONE PIECE LOVE

Once in a while, I think I'll blog about One Piece, and how amazing it is.

After chapter 387:
LUFFY KICKS SO MUCH ASS, OH MY GOD. Coolest character EVAR. o_O;; I wish I was more like him. :3 If I was Luffy, I'd be the happiest, coolest person in the entire world. ~<3

「俺はもっと強くならなくちゃ仲間を守らねェ!俺は強くなんかなくたって一緒にいて欲しい仲間がいるから!俺がだれよりも強くならなきゃ。そいつらをみんな失っちまう!」

BADASS.

READ ONE PIECE.

There was this totally crazy ultra-conservative guy on the UCLA campus today, proselytizing. When I mean ultra-conservative, I mean this guy claimed to follow the Bible literally, though from the way he and his kid Isaiah were dressed, they probably subscribed to modern things like cars and electricity too. This guy was so ignorant and bigoted it was amazing. He'd gathered an entire crowd on Bruin walk shouting at him for his incredibly idiotic beliefs. (Most of the vocal ones were girls, because he was pretty intent about attack women and black people in general.)

It was amusing to watch and shout back, though I got pretty pissed off. :/ Stupid people really annoy me. Stupid people who are big attention whores and claiming to be more righteous than everybody piss me off especially. Apparently he was on campus a couple of days ago too. One of these days, I'm going to start stoning him, just like the Bible says I can do.

He makes baby Jesus cry. I should go up to him one day and tell him that. And his kid too. I think that would be funny.

I got drunk after the test and asked Ben out. It's just a date so far, so nothing huge. We'll see where it goes from there.

Can you tell I'm totally desperate?

For once in my life, I'm trying to go out with somebody who's older than me. Ben is 27.

I better bail myself out of this date before things get any further and start getting weird.

going crazy

There's a tiny little dog sleeping in a duffle bag right next to me. I normally hate little dogs, but that's really cute. :3 *warm fuzzies*

Neurophys test today, ugh. I have about three and a half hours to study for it though, so I think I'll be okay provided I don't die and konk out sometime between now and 7pm.

*blergh*

I think I'm also developing a crush on a guy in my class, but the badness is he's 27 and he's all like, "I feel so old." He's also an extremely mature type, and we all know that mature types + Skuld don't mix very well. :p

Additional badness might also be that the first time I saw him I thought, "Hmm...he would make a cute Cao Cao." ¬_¬ Quite possibly the only reason I have a crush on him, aside from the fact that he dresses extremely well (Armani Exchange jeans? Yikes.) and is about my height.

Who am I kidding? I think I just need a Cao Cao right now. :/ Or to just study for my test. Note how lack of sleep is making me go crazy at the moment. @____@ I hope this bout of insanity passes after a 12 hours worth of shuteye

EDIT: And just to rub in the fact that I live in SoCal now...it's November and it's mid-70's out here. WIN.

Pwned the Neurobio test. Now I have to take the test for Neurophysiology on Wednesday and the Japanese midterm on Thursday.

I am so hitting the bottle Thursday afternoon. I haven't had a good oatmeal stout in ages.

I am distracting myself from studying for the Neurophys test by daydreaming of cosplay and blogging. Bah.

maturity or not

What's funny at 3:30am?

"imperforate anus."

I hope I can say that during my presentation tomorrow without collasping into hopeless laughter. Yup, that'd be real mature.
