Wow, not only did the Swiss trip up colossally, so did Shevchenko for the Ukrainians.
Anyhoos, here are Skuld's predictions:
Round of 16: BRAZIL vs. GHANA. Winner: BRAZIL. Cause they're Brazil for crying out loud.
Round of 16: SPAIN vs. FRANCE. As much as I love Barthez, I'm going to have to side with SPAIN.
Quarterfinals:
:: GERMANY vs. ARGENTINA - winner: Germany. This cup is being played on German soil. They're going to the semis at least, though it's hard to say because Argentina is pretty fucking good.
:: ITALY vs. UKRAINE - winner: Italy. The Ukrainians are larger, but individually the Italians are technically better IMHO. But then again, there always is that Shevchenko factor.
:: ENGLAND vs. PORTUGAL - winner: Portugal. That English goalie's gonna have to move his ass sometime, or England's gonna get punished. They can't have other players defending for their goalie. They need a new one.
::BRAZIL vs. SPAIN - winner: ...I dunno. It's a tossup. Brazil hasn't been playing very well so far, but we all know that if Brazil gets going, they don't stop. Kind of like the Juggernaut, bitch. I want Spain to win, cause I don't like Brazil.
Semifinals:
::GERMANY vs. ITALY - winner: Germany. Once again, this cup is on German soil. Remember when France won in France despite the French team not being all that stellar? This time Germany's good and they're playing on their home turf. Maybe it's psychological, or maybe it has to do with money exchanging hands. Either way, I think Germany's gonna make it to the finals.

FINALS:
GERMANY vs. ??? - winner: not!Brazil. :p

EDIT: It just occurred to me while I was looking at my spinal cord sections under the microscope that I'm gone this weekend (July 1-3) for Anime Expo and will therefore miss the England vs. Portugal game as well as the Brazil (or Ghana) vs. Spain game. ¬_¬ All I have to say is THANK THE LORDS OF FIFA that the players get a rest on July 2nd and 3rd, cause the semifinals are the 4th and the 5th. If I was missing the semi-finals because of Anime Expo, I'd seriously consider just sitting around my AX hotel room in costume with a beer in my hand cheering on my favorite teams. ¬_¬
