:D Just made the requisite 1am run to Pink's. Having never been there before, it was quite a spontaneous adventure. I don't remember how Jeremy and I got on the topic, but all I remember was saying, "Dude, let's go." And we just up and went, right there, at 1:15am, and were back with hot dogs by 2.

There are some days that I really, really love living in Los Angeles.

Okay, here's a more detailed account of what actually went on:

THURSDAY
So after my last 9.70 class I immediately head my ass over to the airport. I make it in record time (25 mins. holy fucking shit), only to be foiled by the weather. Apparently Chicago had a nasty storm that night, so they couldn't let any planes leave, and they had to let planes land. This meant that ground traffic was pretty backed up. Even though my plane was slated to leave at 5:30pm after being bumped up to an earlier flight, Chicago wouldn't let any arrivals take off from their home runways until they gave the all-clear signal, which resulted in me sitting in a plane for about a full 6 hours total. I took off the runway around 9pm, after having sat on it since 5pm. =_=;; Blar. At the very least, I got A LOT of studying for final exams done, so I think in that sense the gods were being benevolent.

I made it to Chicago unharmed, found the Fuuenken (they had to put it through cargo since I couldn't carry it on), hopped into Roni's station wagon, where she had a sloppy joe, some onion rings, and a diet Dr. Pepper for me and went home. We didn't do anything because we were both fucking exhausted, so we crashed in bed.

FRIDAY

Went to the con center/hotel, only to find out that our hotel was being held off until 3pm due to the nasty shit at the airport last night. Grrrr. So we didn't climb into our costumes until about 4 or 5pm. Anyways, the pre-reg line was longer than the regular reg line (t3h suckage), but I think I only waited for about 45 mins to an hour before I got everything and we were all good to go. Unfortunately, Jennie got there before us, but managed to get out half an hour later, because the queue gods were being unfair.

Roni and I hit the dealer's room immediately, where I lost nearly all my money to Brian the happy yaoi doujinshi guy/physicist (god, I wish I was physics again). He gave me his e-mail address and his card, and promised we could hang out for Comiket. ROCKIN'. I came out with Tsubasa 5, and two Shayoukan doujinshi (I just can't resist Shayoukan. -_-;;).

Then we managed to finally meet up with everyone after we got our rooms, and spent a bunch of time in the game room and just generally hanging out.

As soon as the con suite's karaoke time arrived, my group and I headed over there, where I made everyone listen to me and my wonderful, better-than-everybody-else's (I kid you not) 4th Naruto Opening. :3 I was so pumped up. XD (We are fighting dreamers...<3)

Lins and I wanted to go swimming, but by the time we got around to it the pool was closed, and Rah, Alisa, Dan, and I headed over to the suite 2040 party instead. They were handing out booze (to those of legal age, of course ^_~) in mostly shots and cocktails, and I had enough to get myself shitfaced. That's where I met Eli and his friend, John (who was absolutely adorable), and we headed over to Eli's room along with Mikhail and played some strip poker. (Because we were just that fucking drunk.) I only stripped down to "swimsuitness" (bra and panties) and left first, staggering back to the room after collecting my losses/clothes, and crashed into bed with Roni.

SATURDAY

Woke up, showered, and headed over to Mitsuwa, the japanese marketplace for lunch. Roni bought me lunch, which was very, very sweet of her. Lunch consisted of miso ramen and some sushi, which we didn't finish because there was just so fucking much of it. I bought some Hi-Chews to tide me over the weekend and some milk tea/crack, and we went back to the hotel for the Guilty Gear photoshoot.

We went downstairs, found a few Guilty Gear cosplayers, and before we knew it we had amassed a huge-ass fucking group. @_@ Holy shit. ACen security complained that we were blocking traffic (that's how big we were...and how many people were taking our pictures) so we moved outside to the side of where the Trigun group was shooting. Then someone had the bright idea to do a Trigun vs. Guilty Gear shoot with the two of us, and that was a riot. ^_^;; We must've been out there for half an hour hanging out with the Trigun people before we finally dispersed.

Can't really remember what happened after that, aside from hitting the game room again, hitting the consuite again to be fed (ACen actually fed us free of charge: chips and salsa and cheese mostly...in addition to lots and lots of soda...holy shit, I'm so going back next year), and wanting to swim really badly. At some point in time we all headed up to Scott's room to play Smashies, where some drunk guy mistook him for a girl (well, he was in a Bridget costume after all) and we had some good laughs. XD Lins and I hit up suite 2040 again but I didn't drink, and I spent the rest of the night in the room trying to study and just generally hanging out with peeps...with a short break inbetween when Me, Mar, Dan, Rah, and Alisa ran outside to play with water balloons. Life was good.

SUNDAY

Woke up, packed our shit, and just hung out. Just plain hung out. Then we headed off to the airport where Ed fed me McFood, and I was happy hanging out with him and Ed. And of course, being clones and all, our planes, even though they were an hour apart from each other took off from the same gate.

Clonage, go. XD

I came home, studied a bit, watched some Farscape and then crashed.
And that was my weekend of rockness.

ACen rocks. If it was bigger, it would be as cool as Otakon. Which also, incidentally, ROCKS.a

Sakura

| | Comments (3)

I have passed my first 10-footer today. ^_^ Go me!

Okay, so Sakura doesn't really count as a 10-footer because it's easy as hell...but, I can still semi-brag about it to people who haven't passed catastrophics. ^_^ *sweatdrops*

That leaves one song on Skuld's...

Songs to beat by Anime Boston list

1. So Deep
2. A (oni)
3. Waka Laka
4. Cartoon Heroes
5. Sakura
6. Exotic Ethnic
7. Stoic

8. Orion .78 Civilization Mix
9. V (oni)
10. The Least 100 Seconds

Go me. That leaves Orion Civ. Must work hard. @_@ *boots up Stepmania*

Same old, same old. Slept through 9.03 again. *snooze* Workshopping chapters of my novel in class tomorrow. We're pretty nasty. I want to see nasty things they say about MY work. First of which is probably going to be, "This is silly/stupid/ridiculous." Uhh...thanks? ^^;;

One more addendum to Skuld's Sacred Rules of Cosplay.

6. Use corrugated cardboard very sparingly. Which means, if at all possible, not at all. Cardboard =! armor.

Now for social blogging.

Venom appears be have taken on the task of cosplaying Seikishidan Sol. My advice to you: keep Skuld's Sacred Rules of Cosplay in mind. And if you're not up to the par of my cosplay standards, I'm going to have to beat you. With my two-by-four. (And give you several verbal lashings. ^_^ How I love verbal abuse. XD)

Good luck to Ed, who has had his first med school interview. May there be many more to come, including Harvard.

Kudos to Tsaiko, who has survived her family reunion. Being Chinese, I don't really have family reunions the way that Americans seem to traditionally have, but I feel your pain anyway. *hugs, from one of those "damn sinning lesbians."*

Cocoa, let me know when you're coming in for Christmas shopping, 'cause it'd be awesome hang out. I'll have my DDR pads by then, and we can stop off at my house and play DDR for hours on end. Hopefully this will not occur during the weekend immediately preceding Finals week.

Amberlee, holy shit woman. O_O;; Holy. Elf Sternberg writing you e-mail and calling "Slavery" hot is like God giving you an e-mail and thinking you're hot. Okay, slightly different, but still. Hot damn! O_o;; That just plain fucking rules. *big huggles*

Omi, remember that if you ever need to talk, I'm here for you. Though we aren't together anymore, I still like to think of us as good friends. Hope you get through this Cellie thing okay, and you go get yourself smashed this weekend.

^_^ *hugs*

That's a pretty sweet Seikishidan Sol. I have yet to see anyone cosplay him. I regret to inform the cosplay community that I will not be donning the Holy Order uniform for either ACen or Anime Boston, and since I am going to Japan, you will not be seeing it there either. However, at AniBos 2005, Seikishidan Sol, should I still be so persuaded, is a possibility. Nice costume, but the guy violates one of Skuld's Sacred Rules of Cosplay.

**FANFARE**

Skuld's Sacred Rules of Cosplay

1. DO NOT USE ALUMINIUM FOIL! Even on your swords! Why? Because it's GHETTO! Soooooo ghetto! >.< I don't even stoop down to those levels when I'm desperate!

2. DO NOT USE VISIBLE DUCT TAPE! Structural duct tape, and sticky duct tape, if not seen by the observer is okay. There is one exception to the visible duct tape rule, and that is if some part your costume is supposed to made of duct tape. I point to Mark, who has a duct tape trench coat.

3. If you are male, you should never seriously consider cosplaying Sailor Moon or any female wearing a seifuku. No, really. There was this 80 year old guy with bow legs, white hair, and wrinkly skin walking around Otakon2003. My mind has not yet recovered from the shock. Please, spare our brain cells and our retinal ganglion, and don't BLIND US!

4. Get a wig cap. No really, it looks really stupid if your wig is falling off and showing your real hair. If you have any doubts about your wig staying snug on your head, get a wig cap. It'll look like you're wearing pantyhose on your head, but that's covered up by the wig anyway. O_o;;

5. When you leave your room for the con, always make sure you have the following on your body, or one of your friends does:
a) scissors, b) fabric glue, c) a soldering iron, and d) safety pins.

Okay, just kidding. "a" pokes you and is annoying, and "c" is an inside joke, but make sure you always have fabric glue AND safety pins. You have no clue how handy they are. I cosplayed Legato. (*snerk* Yet another inside joke for those of you who knew what HELL I went through in my four hour stint as Legato Bluesummers at Otakon.) I know. O_o;;

And now, for something completely different.

Hahahaha! *cackles* and so right it is!

good news

| | Comments (7)

Good news came into Skuld today while she was at lab (discussing nasty lab politics, we'll leave it alone and pretend I didn't mention it)! ^_^

Skuld is going to Japan for sure this summer! She's going to be working at Osaka University in their Cognitive Neuroscience department! ^_^ Yay, Skuld'll be in Japan! w0000t! *dance dance dance*

Of course, with the Osaka-ben, I won't be able to understand anything anyone says, but I don't care. Skuld will be in JAPAN~! JAPAN! Where she will go to Comiket, buy lots of yaoi, take lots of pictures, and go to dinner with her friends in Osaka! (Of which there may sadly not be very many. -_-;;)

Oh well. ^_^ JAPAN! w00000!

...and yes, I will be everyone's merchandise/yaoi doujinshi/manga bitch. ^_^ Just as long as you pay the shipping. >.<

Les Miserables

| | Comments (3)

Yay! Asphodel and I went to see "Les Miserables" last night. ^_^ They were really good. @_@ The guy playing Jean Valjean (damn, I lost the program, so I can't give you any names) was really really good. @_@ He was understudy, but damn, he did Valjean really well. I was impressed. ^_^

Naturally, Javert is the hardest role to live up to in my eyes. No one will ever be as good as Philip Quast. I am certain of this. I will never see a Javert that is as Javert as Philip Quast was. ;_; So the guy was all right, but he didn't hit the low F in "The Confrontation." >.< He sort of...uh...breathed on it...and it wasn't really there. I wanted to throw something at him. *grumble* But they did do the rest of the duet really well, so I was happy. But he's no Philip Quast. ;_; Can you tell I'm a total Philip Quast fangirl? Go watch/listen to the 10t Anniversary concert recording they did at Royal Albert Hall. Best cast ever *nods nods* And Philip Quast is just at his best there. ;____;

You could tell the Eponine was a Lea Solonga fan. She did a lot of the voice inflections that Lea Solonga did. ^_^ Yeah! She was really good. The Fantine started off kind of weak, but later her voice came through. And damn, her voice is strong. The Marius was very good too. He had a nice strong voice, and he could hit all the top notes of Marius's range without sounding like he was stretching for them. And the Cosette...well, she was just Cosette. >.<

The Thenardiers were amazing. @_@ They were just...Thenardier to the core. It was so cool. ^_^ I love them. Umm...*thinks of more cast members* The Grantaire did a good job of being the college-drunk type of kid XD, but the Enjolras had a really nasal voice. I didn't like him much. -_-;;

The kids, Young Cosette and Gavroche didn't really do much aside from sing the notes. No emotion, no real action, no real feeling behind it all. But hey, they're kids. *shrugs* Can't expect too much out of kids...but if I recall correctly the kid as Gavroche in the 10th Anniversary Concert was fucking amazing.

Okay, I'll stop talking about Les Mis. Overall I was satisfied despite the obvious lack of Philip Quast-ness in the show ;_; Uh oh, I think my Philip-Quast-as-Javert crush is coming back. >_> *shoves it back down* There we go.

Ali-chan has her birthday today. ^_^ We'll not say how old she is. Going to dinner with her and her group of friends tonight w000000t. ^_^

Let me also express my hatred of soft pads that don't have the rope taped around them. How am I supposed to dance if I don't know where the arrows are?! >.< Someone port me some songs for Stepmania. I'm going to get my own pad and do it that way, dammit! @_@ And I'm going to poke all of you who don't already play DDR to play DDR. ^_^ *poke poke poke*
